Airplane party (for Lawn Fawn)

Hi there!

I'm really falling behind in terms of keeping up with my blogging this summer! You may have already seen this party on the Lawn Fawn blog a few days ago, but I wanted to share it here too.

Airplane party (for Lawn Fawn)

My nephew turned 3! and I asked if I could make a cake and some fun decorations for his party. I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to make it happen.

The red airplanes (from Plane and Simple) are so fun! And what better to pair them with than this vanilla cake with strawberry jelly and piled strawberries on top? yum!

Having the cake match the handmade decor goes a long way into making everything look tied together. And, if you're thinking - but I don't bake! - here's a little secret. When I don't have the time to bake, I'll just hack my way into things. I went to the supermarket and straight for the ready-made cakes. I found 6 inch cakes, that had weird things on top, but otherwise matched my decor. But they were too short. I bought 2 of them (at $5 each!) scrapped off the stuff on top I didn't like, and piled strawberries on top. Not bad, right? Hardly any effort on my part, and it was a huge hit. It tasted good and cost less than making it from scratch.

That's my party planning PSA. ha.

More red airplanes, this time on the water bottles.

The little banners flying behind the planes were perfect for personalization. I hand-wrote each kid's name.

For every party I put together, I always try to think of at least one out-of-the-box item. These red suitcases are my favorite things ever! I used the Fancy Box Die to make them. They were cut out of red paper and then decorated very simply. I cut strips of blue cardstock and wrapped them around. Then, I took a die-cut circle and cut it into 4, one for each corner of the suitcase. I used a strip of which cardstock for a handle. This took the longest out of anything else I crafted for the party, but they are so cute!

For a finishing touch, I added a Tiny Tag onto the front of each suitcase, stamped with the airplane from Plan On It: Vacation.

winter tiny tags (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to day 2 of this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week! I'm showing off the Winter Tiny Tags die set - I love a cute mitten tag!

I cut a Fancy Box, and found a fun way to dress it up: a stitched rectangle frame fits the top of the box perfectly! I was so happy to find this out - I feel like it dresses up the box so nicely!

I cut a white box and a white frame, and added a pop of black, using the Snowy Backdrop die. A grey mitten tag and big red ribbon make for a simple, but striking gift box.

I cut the mitten out of Knit Picky paper, in the subtle and soft grey pattern, and then used a light grey copic marker to add some shading.

The sentiment is from Tiny Tag Sayings, and I finished off with a little white enamel heart.

Here is a look at the pieces used to create this box:

St-Patty's day boxes (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

st-patty's day boxes (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

The team is showing off the new Fancy Box die, and I made a trio of St-Patrick's Day boxes for my kiddos.

I cut the boxes out of green papers (I thought it would be fun to mix patterned and solid papers) and then cut into the tops with the label die so that you could see the gold coin chocolates. I love that the coins are totally Canadian, haha.

I decorated each box with some gold twine and a Tiny Tag. The tiny tags are stamped with images from Plan On It: Calendar and Plan On It: Holidays. I didn't even know we had that little leprechaun guy!

I hope you like my little fancy boxes. I had so much fun making them that you'll see more St-Patty's day decorations in a few weeks for my monthly Lawn Fawn party post!  In the meantime, there's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!

Happy hatchling (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to another day of February's Lawn Fawn inspiration week. Today, we're showing off the new layering die set, Happy Hatchling.

I used the chick and eggs dies to make a set of mini cards. I love teeny tiny cards! You could also punch a hole at the tops and call them folding tags.

I used the new Fancy Box die to create a little Easter basket. I adjusted the die by shortening that back end and leaving it standing up. Nothing fussy here! Then, I added some die-cut grass and a handle.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!
