Tombow + Lawn Fawn collaboration

Hi there!

Lawn Fawn and Tombow are pairing up for a fun blog hop featuring products from both companies. I was lucky enough to be able to work with a set of Dual Brush Pen markers to create my card:

tombow + lawn fawn blog hop

I colored the dog from Happy Howloween, gave him a party hat and a nice big bone of a present (from the SSS/LF exclusive set, Happy Howlidays.)

I used the Stitched Borders dies to give texture to my kraft mat, and added a white Celebrate die-cut to a kraft-colored flag.

I adhered all of the flat elements with my favorite glue ever, Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I've been using only this glue for years, and I was so happy to find a new bottle in my box from Tombow.

Next up on your hop is Beth Watson - click!

Love Ya Bunches! (Lawn Fawn/EH exclusive set)

Hi there!

Lawn Fawn created an exclusive set for Ellen Hutson, that you can find only in their store for a limited time - click!

Love Ya Bunches is so much fun to play with!

Love ya bunches (LF/EH exlusive set)

I colored all of the monkeys in the set, plus 1. To make them pop, I set 3 of them onto vines against a red-orange background. I sponged a mess of distress inks together until I liked the blend and then flicked water, white ink and red ink onto the surface.

The 3 swinging monkeys are throwing bananas down to their friend, so he could peel and enjoy!

Love ya bunches (LF/EH exlusive set)

I white-heat-embossed the sentiment onto a thin strip of black cardstock, and added falling leaves to balance the left side of the card.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!

Beach bums (Neat and Tangled)

Hi there!

I posted these cards to the Neat and Tangled blog a few days ago, but I wanted to share them here too.

Beach bums

They use images from the new set, Beach Day, and feature a trio of critters in beach wear. Let's talk about how cute the hippo looks in her itty-bitty-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot-bikini. And not how I felt trying on bathing suits last week. ack!

Beach bums

I matched pattern paper to her bathing suit bottom, and also to the yellow sun, and made it all pop with a sponged blue sky. The little turtle is my absolute fave.

Beach bums

I realized that I never used all 3 animals on the same card! Time to correct that with a fun shaker card. When I was illustrating the set, I purposefully drew 3 animals that would be colored in grey. Is that cool? Or too monotone? I wanted the bright bathing suits and floaties to stand out instead.

Beach bums

Shake-shake-shake!

Shake what your mama gave you! haha. They look super confidant in their topless attire. I might be throwing on a pair of shorts when we head off to the beach this summer.

Pretty Poppies + Father's Day border (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

I completely fudged up and forgot to post my project yesterday! I'm double-billing today's post, so you get to see the Pretty Poppies boxes from yesterday as well as today's Father's Day border card.

pretty poppies + father's day border (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Working backwards, I used the Elfie Selfie elephants on a Father's Day card, flying a kite from Yay, Kites.  I sponged yellow and blue inks onto a Stitched Windy Backdrop added the Father's Day border in an orange that matched the kite to finish off the card.

My project from yesterday featured a trio of fancy boxes:

I die-cut the Pretty Poppies using white cardstock and spent some time coloring all of the pieces with copic markers.

Each flower layers 2 large petal trios and 2 smaller ones, to create a fuller flower.

I also layered a slew of the flower centers, so that it looked nice and full.

I hope you like my projects! Hop over to the LF blog this morning to see more - click!

Aloha! (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to another day of this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week. Today, we're showing off the Scripty Aloha die - perfect for breezy summer cards.

Aloha! (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I sponged the same ink color onto the Scripty Aloha die-cut and the Stripey Backdrop.

I backed the Aloha sentiment with a strip of sandy beach, and used palm trees to flank either side of my ocean scene.

Aloha! (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I sponged a yellow sunny sky and then used the Ocean Hillside Pop-up dies and the Ocean Wave Accents to create an ocean home for the shark from Duh-nuh.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the LF blog this morning - click!

thank you FAIRY much (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there, and welcome back to day 2 of this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week. We're taking a closer look at Push Here, a little collection of sentiments that gives the recipient a clue as to how an interactive card works!

thank you fairy much (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I combined Fairy Friends with a punny Quinn's Capital ABCs F-A-I-R-Y and slapped the Lift The Flap right onto the front of the card. I need to keep the inside free for all the writing!

thank you fairy much (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I love the little "open me" from Push Here, and how it fits right into that flap space, and how the fairy's magic is accentuating the words!

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but I used cloud border die-cuts to sponge layers of clouds on the entire background. I broke up all the sky with a purple scalloped layer, and colored the word fairy in a bright pink so that it would pop.

Miss you already (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

Welcome to Lawn Fawn's June inspiration week! We're kicking things off with a closer look at Plane and Simple.

My Sofia is graduating elementary school! She went on her senior class trip a week ago, and I tucked this into her bag:

miss you already (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I just think that a mouse riding a paper airplane is the cutest! The bunny, from Upon a Star, is looking longingly at her mouse buddy (from Elphie Selfie.)

miss you already (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

To make it look like the mouse is riding in the paper airplane, I stamped a second paper airplane and used scissors to cut an extra front panel. Once I adhered it on top of the mouse, it looked like he was really inside. I watercolored the area behind the mouse in a purple, so that it would pop against the blue of the background clouds.

To give color to the clouds, I simply dipped a brush into white pigment ink and colored the edges. I will definitely be doing this again!

for the beautiful bride (Avery Elle)

Hi there!

My cousin's July wedding is fast approaching and we attended his fiancé's bridal shower last weekend. I had so much fun creating a special card for her using Avery Elle stamps and dies:

for the beautiful bride (Avery Elle)

I colored the pretty lady from Love Birds to match the bride's coloring and framed her using the new Horizontal Stripes cover-plate. I love it for making no-brainer card layouts! Sometimes coming up with the design is the longest part of card-making, right?

for the beautiful bride (Avery Elle)

I did not have a sentiment that spelled out Happy Bridal Shower, but I had almost all of it. For the rest, I improvised.

I grabbed the BRID, from "bride and groom" and the AL from "all my love" (both, from Banner & Wreath) to create the word BRIDAL. It was actually really easy to fit them together! I think the scripty font was extra forgiving.

The words Happy and Shower were taken from another stamp set, Special Delivery.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Neat and Tangled release week wrap-up

Hi there!

Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and kind words for my new sets, Beach Day and Flamingo Floatie.

You can find them in the Neat and Tangled store right now! And something new that Danielle is making available this month: an I-want-it-all bundle!

I can't stop coloring this little cutie:

I paired the new Flamingo Floatie image with fish from Mermazing and Kitty's Favorite Things.

The little fish peeking up at her are so cute! To make them seamlessly blend in the water, I used a marker to color around the outline of each fish die-cut.

Have a fabulous day!

Flamingo Floatie (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to the final day of new product reveals over at Neat and Tangled. In case you missed a day or 2, here's a quick recap:

Day 1: Bloom

Day 2: Beach Day

Day 3: Welcome Home

Today, we're featuring a 3x4 stamp set that I illustrated, called Flamingo Floatie. The beach critters can't be the only ones enjoying the sun! This sassy girl started out in my Etsy shop but I always wanted to tweak the image a bit and offer her as a stamp.

Flamingo Floatie (Neat and Tangled release week)

I didn't want to do a proper water scene for this card, but I used the little puddle image to ground the little girl and kept the card light and airy.

She is so much fun to color! All that pink, you can't help but smile.

Flamingo Floatie (Neat and Tangled release week)

I sponged some minty ink behind the girl, to give the illusion of water, and splattered on some brown flecks for added interest.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the NT blog this morning - click!

Don't forget to leave a comment on the way out, to be eligible for the 25$ gift card to the NT store.  And they are giving away new product on the NT blog this morning, so be sure to comment there too.

Welcome Home (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to day 3 of this month's Neat and Tangled new release.

In case you're just tuning in, here's what you missed:

Day 1: Bloom

Day 2: Beach Day

Today, we're showing off Welcome Home, a set that would be perfect to announce a new pregnancy or a house move.

welcome home (Neat and Tangled release week)

I couldn't help but add in some images from older sets: the girl is from Better Together, and the little fishbowl, from Yo Ho Ho. I love that it looks like the little girl is excited for her new home, and already has her favorite things all ready to go.

I also used a few dies to add layers to the card. The Polygon coverplate is one I didn't get around to using last release, but I absolutely love it.  The Stitched Sunburst was perfect for drawing the eye to the girl, it's subtle but the card definitely benefited from it.

The grassy hill was created using a Lawn Fawn die.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the NT blog this morning! Before you go, leave a comment - you'll be eligible to win a 25$ gift card to the store at the end of the week.

Beach Day (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there! Welcome back to day 2 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week. In case you missed it, here's a recap so far:

Day 1: Bloom

I'm so thrilled to introduce you to my latest illustrations in Beach Day. We work about 4 months ahead with our stamp production, so we were in the dead of white winter when I drew these. It was a deep longing for all things sandy and sunny, let me tell you!

Beach Day (Neat and Tangled release week)

Beach Day is a 4x6 set and features 3 larger images: the elephant and hippo you see here are 2 of them, and many smaller images like the little seagull.

For this card, I ink blended some mint and yellow inks for a sky-scape and added the clouds from the previously released Making Waves die set.

Beach Day (Neat and Tangled release week)

I gave the sun a smiley face (it's included in the set and you can have the sun with or without a face) and added a sandy hill for the animals to stand on.  I love the elephant shooting water over to his friend! The little duck floatie cracks me up.

Here's a look at the other main beach dude, a more masculine looking rhino:

Beach Day (Neat and Tangled release week)

I did a similar ink blending and sandy stretch on this card, but built a scene with just the rhino and other little images from the set. The little turtle is my fave.

Beach Day (Neat and Tangled release week)

I added little accents to the sand and sky to add more interest to the card. To the sky, I added white gel pen dots, and I used the little cluster of dots image in different browns to add texture to the sand.

I'd love to know what you think of the set! And don't forget to leave comments on all the Design Team blogs to be eligible for a 25$ gift card to the NT store at the end of the week. Also, leave a comment today on the NT blog for a chance to win this set!

Beautiful You (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

We're kicking off the June Neat and Tangled release week today! woot! I have some summery/beachy themed sets in the line-up, which you'll start seeing as of tomorrow!

For now, we're showing off a gorgeous set designed by Danielle, called Bloom.  I can't get enough of her hand-lettering, and the sentiments are large and so beautiful.

beautiful you (Neat and Tangled release week)

I stamped the sentiment onto a sheet of Lawn Fawn watercolor wishes paper, using my MISTI tool to make sure that the black ink was good and saturated.

The blooms from Bloom were paired with the sprigs from Magical Day to create a full garden of flowers.

beautiful you (Neat and Tangled release week)

I added a strip of black and white striped paper to add a graphic element to the card, and used a white gel pen to add little accents above and around the flowers.

I hope you like it!

As usual, leave a comment on the Design Teams' blogs to be eligible to win a 25$ gift card to the NT store at the end of the week, and comment on the NT blog this morning for a chance to win today's showcased products. Good luck!
