Jump for joy!

Hi there!

Our newest release hit the store this past Friday, and I have another card to share using my brand new set, Jump For Joy. It features images that I illustrated, and some of my favorite sentiments ever.

I kept this card very clean and white, with the only pops of color coming from the critters and the grassy hills (made using the Stitched Slopes dies). I positioned the jumping hedgehog so that he is having a sweet moment with the raccoon. I just think they are too cute like this!

I created a chunky outer frame for my card (using Lawn Fawn rectangle dies) and stamped the sentiment at the bottom, just like a picture frame. The tiny little heart place between the raccoon and hedgie reinforce the sentiment perfectly.

I believe in you! (Neat and Tangled release week)

Welcome back to day 3 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week. Today we're showing off a stamp set and dies that work oh-so-well together, both designed by Miriam. Typed Sentiments and the Skinny Strips die set are both must-haves for sure!

I love all of the sentiments in Typed Sentiments. There is one that cracks me right up: "no one will ever be as entertained by us as us." haha. I will definitely be reaching for this set again and again. I used it with images from Jump For Joy, and set the trampolining bunny against a night sky. The rolling hills were created using our Stitched Slopes dies.

Stretch your stamps! (Neat and Tangled)

I'm here and on the Neat and Tangled blog this morning, with a little tutorial on how to stretch your stamps. The newest release features this sweet elephant, but I want to show you how to remove the swinging girl so that the elephant can be used on his own.

First of all, you need to ink up your stamp, but wipe away the part of the trunk where the string is:



Next, you will want to die cut the image:



For the last step, you'll need to use a black pen (I used a copic multi-liner pen so that I could safely use copic markers to color the elephant afterwards) to draw in the missing lines.



Then, with just a few scissor snips, you can break the elephant free from his swinging duties:



It's a simple way to be able to use your elephant in a new way! I have him blowing hearts for Valentine's Day, and the XOXO sentiment from Just Because sends extra hugs and kisses to the recipient.

Swinging by (Neat and Tangled release week)

Welcome back to the last day of new product reveals for Neat and Tangled's January release week! Everything will be available for sale as of 8am EST tomorrow morning.

Today, we're showing off a 3x4 stamp set I designed, called Swinging By:

It features a single image, the elephant and the little girl swinging from his trunk, and a few mix and match sentiment options.

I used some washi tape for an easy night-time backdrop - I can't stop using that stuff! Before adhering the elephant, I cut into the night sky layer with the Stitched Sunburst die. It's subtle, but I love how it draws further attention to the sweet elephant.



I used the Stitched Slopes dies to create rolling hills beneath his feet, and heat-embossed the sentiment onto a black flag for a graphic touch.

Just because (Neat and Tangled release week)

Happy New Year! To kick things off here on the blog, it's time for Neat and Tangled's first release week of 2019. I am so excited to show off everything!

First up, a set featuring Danielle's gorgeous hand-lettering, called Just Because.

Isn't it so pretty? It's perfect for Valentine's Day, of course, but also, it looks pretty cute paired with images you'll see more of on Thursday:



I stamped and colored the cutie elephant and his swinging friend, nestling her into the Hugs & Kisses sentiment. I love how that ties the image and the sentiment together, so that the entire card-front looks cohesive and purposeful.

I used the Stitched Slopes dies to create some grounding beneath them, and framed out the focal images using the ovals from the Card Front Designs die set.

Last minute Christmas

Hi there!

With only 2 more sleeps until Christmas, I'm sneaking in one last card that I made but never blogged.



I combined 3 winter sets from Neat and Tangled to create this card: Stay Cool, Snow Fun, and Get Yeti. I love how they all work so well together!

I also used the Stitched Slopes dies to create the rolling snow banks.



The 2 mini snowmen in the sled crack me up! Once I colored and created my winter scene, I used a white gel pen to draw in the falling snow in the background.

A winter deer family (Neat and Tangled)

I'm here and on the Neat and Tangled blog this morning, with a Christmas card that mixes a few sets to create a family of winter deer:

Before I start chattering about the card, I would just like to say that thank goodness I treated myself to an external flash for my camera recently! I still prefer to take pictures in nice lighting, but at least I have an alternative now. What do you think?

Back to the card! I started out by stamping out my deer. The mama and papa deer are from Oh Deer, and the little one making a tiny snowman is from Santa's Wonderland. I think they all look so cute together!

I colored them all using my favorite brown copic marker trio: E30, E31, and E34. I went back in and added some W5 in the spots that would be most shaded.

I added rolling snowbanks beneath their hooves, using our Stitched Slopes dies.

I added a gingham paper sky and popped up the focal images before creating a frame using 2 rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn.

I stamped out the greeting, from Nativity Play to the bottom of the frame using a crisp black ink. I'm so happy to have this french greeting for all of our teacher cards this year! We live right outside the city of Montreal, and our kids are in a french-immersion program.

Daddy and me (Neat and Tangled)

I'm here and on the Neat and Tangled blog this morning, with a card featuring our new Mommy Daddy and Me stamp set:

I used the image with the big bear and cub. I think it's sweet, how the cub's face is smushed in there a bit.

I started out by sponging a sky background for the bears to sit in front on, and gave them a ground to lay on using our Stitched Slopes die.

Once the bears were colored and cut out, I placed them onto their background and adhered everything to a cream-colored card base. I stamped the greeting directly onto the cream base and added a tiny heart to finish things off.



I like the simplicity of this card, especially to gift to dad. If it was for mom, I would probably add more, but this seemed like just enough for a "guy card."

Beavers, eh? (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to the second day of this month's Neat and Tangled release week! We're showing off a set that I illustrated, called Beavers Eh. The name of the set was a total joke that stuck. ha. A little Canadian fun.

I hope you will bea-ver-y excited about these beavers! (no? too much? maybe get a little dam excited? I could do this for awhile...)

My card features 2 of the 4 beavers included in the set. The boy beaver on the left has his hands outstretched to hold either the flower, or the fish, but I thought he looked like he could have his arm around his best gal.

I used the new Nesting Hexagons cover-plate (you'll see more of that one tomorrow) to add interest to the background, and Stitched Slopes to give the animals a ground to stand on.



Their long teeth are amazing. I had front teeth like that before braces. no joke. Also, the girl beaver's cheeks are almost pinchable.
