polar bear christmas.

Hi there! I think, by fluke, this turned into the week where I show off my digital illustrations. I hope you don't mind!

polar bear christmas

I illustrated a very simple bear wearing a striped party hat. I printed him out times four and cut him out with scissors.

I highlighted some areas in blue, gave him blushy cheeks and popped him up onto snowy/starry lawn fawn paper. A simple sentiment by Avery Elle right onto his belly, and a pom pom on his hat, and he was ready for gifting.

It feels good to make something quick and simple sometimes!

yeti or not... it's a-coming!

Are you yeti for this? haha.

It's lawn fawn's holiday inspiration week, and it's jam-packed with all kinds of amazing holiday ideas for you!

I hope you're in the mood for something a little kooky:

yeti or not, it's coming!

I saw an illustrated print that featured two yetis holding a banner that read "yeti or not" and I had to recreate it with all of the layering and interest that you can't get from a flat illustration.

My kids thought it was a riot.  I live to make them giggle at my cards.

By my count, this card comprises of

2 yetis wearing

2 pairs of earmuffs,

3 alphas (1 die set and 2 stamped ones,)

3 snowdrifts (one with trees and 2 barren snow wildernesses,) and exactly

5 stamped snowflakes.

yeti or not, it's coming!

And there you have it.  I hope you like it!

Merry Christmas, with love...

Christmas came too fast this year - I haven't shared all of my holiday creations on the blog, my kids were never festively photographed for a photo-card, and I still have quite a few presents to wrap.

Ready or not, this is my heartfelt wish to you: may your Christmas be merry and bright.

From our family,

merry christmas, with love...

to yours.

And, from JustMePrints too:

merry christmas, with love...

hee hee.

I hand-drew the cartoon versions of my kidlets, and my photog bff helped me turn a photo of my backyard squirrel into something that kept us in stitches for a solid 10 minutes.  BAM. Merry Christmas.

See you in the new year!

merry christmas!

Hark the herald angels sing
"glory to the newborn king!
peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful all ye nations rise,
join the triumph of the skies,
with angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark the herald angels sing,
"glory to the newborn king."

with love and a "merry Christmas" from our home, to yours ♥

(the beautiful photo of my kids is thanks to Tanya Zaleski.  Maia is ever-marching to the beat of her own drum, Thomas is stroking the batman t-shirt underneath the dress-shirt, and Sofia is my gorgeous, and photo-loving princess.  xoxo, Tanya, for capturing this fun moment!)

Saturday Creations {warmest thoughts}

Hi friends!

I have, what I think is an adorable winter card to share with you today.  When I saw the sentiment, from Precious Remembrance's "christmas stamp set," I immediately started layering on cozy & wintery elements:

- the snowman, in his warm hat and mittens... I bent his arms back to look like he's clumsily holding onto the sentiment sign.  love that.

- the nordic-style-sweater background.  sigh...in red and white, no less.

- the kraft elements... nothing says warm to me like kraft... it lends a homespun quality to projects that I absolutely adore.  I even opted to color the snowman's carrot nose with a kraft-colored marker... an orange would have totally ruined my look.

- ric rac... the pinking edged border reminds me of fabric... and, next to the sweater background, can't help but reinforce the cozy feel.

Thanks for peeking my wintery snowman card!

Have a great weekend, all!

Saturday creations {silver bells}

Hello!

We have quite the Christmas-themed day planned.  If it doesn't rain (fingers crossed, because the prognosis doesn't look good), the kids are getting gussied up for Christmas card pictures with our favorite photographer, (complete with mugs full of whipped cream and small trees for sale - so cute, right?) and I am off to teach my first Christmas card class of the season.  As Maia threw her 112th tantrum yesterday, I turned to my husband, smiled oh-so-serenely, and said: "I'm getting out of here tomorrow afternoon."  (The terrible twos are here, and they are LOUD, people.  They've even started spitting on me.  This mama needs a grown-up-girl break.)

In keeping with the day's Christmas theme, it is my pleasure to show off another sentiment from the new Precious Remembrance Christmas set.

Christmas gets c-o-l-d over here... and lasts for months... and months... but winter is still my favorite.  Why on earth?  (that's what you're thinking, right?)  Because it's full of lit fireplaces, and cozy sweaters, hot chocolates, and Christmas.  That's why.  And nothing says cozy and warm like layers and knit patterns.

I stamped some silver (well, grey) bells, and layered them onto my focal point mat with a poinsettia and a floppy red bow.  I adhered them onto a die-cut shape already stamped with boughs.  Then, the knit pattern. I stamped it in a festive red, and added the sentiment from Precious Remembrance:

I love this sentiment - the mix of fonts and handwritten appeal work so well here.  My favorite part is the little heart on the "J".  It doesn't get any cozier than that.

If you missed the full reveal, here's what the entire set looks like:

Have a great weekend, all!

Stamps: bells & boughs (PTI), knit background (wplus9), Christmas (Precious Remembrance)
Ink: provincial grey, red currant, basil, pool (fresh inks), memento black
Paper: white (PTI), baja breeze, basic grey (SU!)
