be protected {mama elephant designer series}

Hi there, I'm back with my second post of the day! I'd love if you scrolled down to see my Avery Elle guest post.

I'm showing off a card I made with Mama Elephant's in my heart and the new starburst creative cut.

may you be protected

I always thought the little boy looked like he was praying, and I love the sentiment from the same set.  I die-cut the starburst cover plate and nestled the sentiment into the space between the stars.

I connected the sentiment to the boy below by way of a hanging star (from the set Splendid.)

To make the sky look a little hazy, (after sponging and rubbing on the distress inks for the sky color,) I took an eraser and started to lightly remove some of the color. I love the effect that it gave!

I mounted the coverplate on foam squares to the card base, so that the yellow paper I adhered to the base would show through the starry peepholes. For a last touch, I added some of the cut-out stars - starry confetti is my new fave.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hooray! {mama elephant designer series}

Hey there!

It's been quiet on the blog lately (let's blame the beautiful weather) but I'm here and on the Mama Elephant blog today sharing a card I made with the beautifully hand-lettered "splendid."

hooray!

I started out with a white cardstock panel and stamped the open diamond pattern (from on point borders) to cover the entire piece.  Then, I heat-embossed the amazing sentiment with a blue embossing powder.  I kind of love how you can still see the diamond pattern through the sentiment!

hooray!

I used some of the accents included in splendid to add fun touches to my card: the bird and the spray of stars.  I hand-cut the bird and popped him up, but the stars were stamped directly on top of the base pattern.  I think little differences like that give levels of interest to a card.

Finally, I cut apart a femme frames die-cut so that I could slip a tiny scallop border on either end of my focal panel.

I hope you like my card! Thanks for stopping by.

be awesome {mama elephant stamp highlight}

Hi there, and welcome back to another day of Mama Elephant May stamp highlights! We're showing off Splendid today, a beautiful follow-up to the popular hand-lettered set, Make a Wish.

I have two cards to show off today, both using my favorite sentiment:

My first card features the sentiment embossed in pink, framed in a light blue and tied together with a pink paper bow.  I stamped the stripes in the background in white ink and called it done.

My second card features the same sentiment and some original artwork:

I drew the girl, and her bird-shaped balloon with a 0.3 copic multiliner pen and then colored her in with copic markers.  She's naturally adjusting her crown.  The background panel was stamped with the triangle strip from on-point borders, and I threw on some paper confetti to finish things off.
