Yeti or not (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

Welcome to Lawn Fawn's September inspiration week! Today, we're taking a closer look at Yeti Or Not. I used the cute yetis on my card yesterday but I'm so ready to share this snowboarding duo today:

I decided to make a wintery birthday card by bringing in the igloo from Snow Cool and the pile of snowballs from Toboggan Together.

I used blue paper from the Spiffy Speckles collection, and then heat-embossed snowflakes over-top.

Lawn Fawn holiday week

Hi there!

Lawn Fawn is hosting "a very fawny holiday week" to give you inspiration for holiday cards and projects. If you missed the first few days, you should definitely check it out on their blog. I'm up today, with a card that pulls from a few different sets:

Lawn Fawn holiday week

I used the Peekaboo Backdrop to frame out little wintery scenes.  I used different holiday sets for the critters, including Toboggan Together, Sealed With A Kiss, and Beary Happy Holidays.

I added the sentiment and speech bubble from Say What? Christmas Critters.

After the entire card was assembled, I decided that it was missing something, so I grabbed a snowfall stencil and some texture paste and tried my best to work around the images and frames. Not my best move, haha. I was sweating a bit, but I think it worked out ok.

let's chill (a penguin party for Lawn Fawn)

Hi there!

I'm here and on the Lawn Fawn blog this morning with a simple but very cute penguin party!

let's chill (a penguin party for Lawn Fawn)

The subtle colors made it hard to photograph but it all looks so pretty in real life! I set everything up while my kids were at school, and tore it down before they came home. The decor is tucked away and the cupcakes are in the freezer, waiting for the elf to suggest a little North Pole party one December evening.

I combined images from Snow Cool and Toboggan Together to create all of the decor.

I kept the colors icy: cool blues and subtle light greys.

I cut the letters out of  blue watercolor paper, which looks a little icy! The letters are not a uniform blue, which adds to the wintery theme.

I used the same watercolor paper to cut out the circles for the drink bottles. I can't wait to surprise the kids with everything very soon!

Fawny holiday week

Hi there!

This week is Fawny holiday week over on the Lawn Fawn blog! Get ready for tons of Christmas card inspiration.

I'm up today, with a flat-paneled card that would be easy to mail:

Fawny holiday week

So many smiling critters! I love how I could pull them from a bunch of different Lawn Fawn sets and still have them work so well together.

I used bears from Beary Happy Holidays, deer, penguin and seals from Here We Go A-Waddling, Toboggan Together, and Sealed With A Kiss.

I framed the fun scene with a piece of Knit Picky Paper.

It was so fun to sit down and create this card. I haven't done this much masking in a long while!

It's a plaid Christmas (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there! Lawn Fawn's September inspiration week is in full swing! Today, we're showing off the Perfectly Plaid Christmas paper collection.

I came up with this quirky little number:

it's a plaid Christmas (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I rounded up alllll of the reindeer (from Toboggan Together and Cheery Christmas) and had them peek out of little framed squares.

Since the plaid is so busy, I keep the colors to a tight red, kraft, and green scheme. The square backs were colored in green to give the reindeer some pop, although I think I could have found a better matching green!

pop-up halloween card (lawn fawn inspiration week)

Hi there, and welcome back to our final day of Lawn Fawn's August inspiration week. Do you know what that means? The entire fall/winter release becomes available TOMORROW. woo hoo!

The design team is going out in style, with everyone using the new Everyday Pop-Ups and Stitched Hillside Pop-Up dies to create fancy cards.

I'm usually such a lazy crafter, but this was fun! I used the dress-up clothes from Happy Howloween, but put them on the little reindeer from Toboggan Together for something different:

The card-front is pretty plain, but that's so you can be really surprised when you open it up to find allllll of this:

The Toboggan Together reindeer met up with his friends from the new Cheery Christmas set for Halloween! I love that the little tutus and other accessories can fit on other critters!

I cut a starry night sky out of blue paper, and then rubbed our Deep Sea ink around the edges to give it more depth.

A little tip: the contrast of the white border around each die-cut was too jarring next to the dark hillsides and dark blue sky so I inked around the edges of each critter to make everything blend better. I also lightened up the heavy black elements with the help of a white gel pen. It helped create balance between the light and dark elements.

I hope you like it!

Joining in the fun with Taheerah are over 60 special guests - each serving up some fantastic Christmas inspiration! Just like an Advent Calendar, you’ll never know where you’re going to be visiting next until you ‘open the door’!

And that’s not all! With 25 *amazing* sponsors taking part as well, your crafty wish list is bound to get a boost with a chance to win a prize EVERY SINGLE DAY!!

Join in the fun every day at

For day 18 of this advent hop, I created a set of tags:

advent calendar extravaganza

Using my brand new MISTI tool made it so easy to stamp all 6 tags quickly, and have them look exactly the same. That was the quick part. It took a little longer to color everything in, but that's what I love. I love using stamps and inks and coloring, and sometimes that is so much more relaxing to me than lugging out the die-cutter (oh, it stays out at your house? pffft. I have to put everything away before every mealtime. ha.)

I used Lawn Fawn's Toboggan Together. I really love that reindeer image!

I hope you like my simple (but time-consuming, haha) tags! Since this is Taheerah's party, she's arranged for prizes every day! Today's sponsor is Lawn Fawn - woot!  Leave a comment on this blog post to be entered, and then pop back over to Taheerah's blog and leave a comment on her blog post today to double your chances. You have until December 31st, 7AM EST to leave your comments.

lawn fawny holiday week!

Welcome to the first day of lawn fawn's holiday inspiration week!

I'm bookending this whole thing, with a lawn fawny christmas post today, and again on Friday.

lawn fawny holiday week!

I'm back with my red and black plaid again! I hope you're not sick of it. This is my whole Christmas color scheme: kraft, red and black plaid, black and white. with a tiny green tree thrown in. ha.

I stamped Gingham Backdrops in black ink on red cardstock, then used Quinn's Capital ABCs to cut out the merry letters.

The penguin is my favorite part. He sits on a kraft background, but there is no white outline to break up the look! I stamped, colored and cut him out of kraft cardstock, and then solved the problem of his belly by cutting the face out of white cardstock.

Toboggan together! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Hey there! I'm so excited to be joining the Lawn Fawn design team for this month's inspiration week! Get ready for a whole lotta cute Christmas stuff.

Today, we're showing off my favorite set of the entire winter release, Toboggan Together.

toboggan together {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I paired the images with a gingham background, stamped in black ink onto red cardstock. I can't even tell you how much I love it stamped like that! A little buffalo plaid never hurt nobody.

Let's talk about layering stamped and die-cut images. If I'm going to layer images, I usually mask and then try to do the finicky die-cutting to get the whole thing cut out together (example.) Because, to my eye, I really don't like seeing the white outline where it's not supposed to be.  Does that make sense? It will in a second. Look at the reindeer, and the rope that he's pulling the sled with. I made it look more seamless by stamping the reindeer image again onto the rope die-cut, coloring it to match, and lopping a tiny part off so that it sits snuggly under his reindeer head.

What do you think? Worth the effort? For me, it totally gives an extra bit of polish to the images.
