Marvy+Lawn Fawn collab week

Hi there!

All week long, the Lawn Fawn design team is using products provided by Marvy to give you fresh inspiration!

Marvy+Lawn Fawn collab week

I used the I Scream You Scream popsicle dies for a card that is pure summer! I used the brush markers that Marvy sent over to create the striped background. By watering them down a bit, they have a fun watercolor look to them. I also used a brush marker to create depth and shadowing on the popsicles themselves.

I reached back to an older set for the sentiment (Making Frosty Friends) and stamped it onto the wavy banner from the Shadow Box Card Ocean Add-On die set.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

snow day.

Hi there! We're nearing the end of Lawn Fawn's September inspiration week - I hope you've enjoyed it so far.  Today we're showing off the most adorable set, Snow Day, and its coordinating dies.

snow day

I made a shaker card!  I pulled out my favorite snowman and paired him with his new bunny friends. When I first showed this card to Kelly Marie, she said it looked like the snowman had groupies. haha.

I colored and positioned them in front of the shaker window. I chose a paper from the snow day collection, and positioned it so it looked like there were more bunnies and birds playing in the snow behind them.

Tilt it back to see all of the glitter, ready to fall.

It's a blizzard, y'all.

I hope it! There's more from the rest of the design team on the Lawn Fawn blog today - click!

Stretching your stamps {SSS wednesday challenge}

Hi! It's time for another Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

This one focuses on glitter (!) and an oh-so-appropriate frozen mood board:

I have to admit, I always find it funny to stamp snowmen after christmas (hee).  I'm ready to move on to valentine's day and warmer-weathered themes, even though we're all icy and counting snowflakes for another few months in Montreal. It's brutal.

Having said that, another round with my favorite winter lawn fawn set isn't a bad thing.  I tried to do something a little different:

stretching your stamps {SSS wednesday challenge}

What do you think? Recognize him?

Here's what I did to stretch my stamps:

The snowman stamp (on the left) has a face.  I inked it up, but used a baby wipe to carefully rid him of his features.

Then, using a pencil, I sketched a new face, longer twiggy arms, and a top hat that works with his up-turned gaze.  Once I was satisfied with the sketch, I used a copic multiliner pen to trace my work and I erased the pencil lines.

Stamp a few birds and a scarf and he's ready to come to life with some simple coloring.  (Don't worry about the scarf - some careful paper-piecing will hide those intersecting lines.)

When all was colored and done, I masked all of the elements to be able to sponge some light grey ink all around.  I then stamped some snow in an aqua ink, and accented a few flakes using a two-way glue pen and some distress glitter.   A strip of glitter tape at the bottom was to make sure I was challenge-worthy, ha ha.

So, stay cool! and don't be afraid to try new things and experiment with your stamped images.

Join us for the challenge! As always, SSS will be giving away a 50$ voucher to their store.

Until next time,

♥.

let's be merry {lawnscaping challenge}

It's time for another lawnscaping challenge!  We're giving you an arctic color palette to work with:

I won't lie, this one was difficult to craft and photograph.  gah.

let's be merry

I cut the "merry" banner with my silhouette (it's an original creation) and used lawn fawn alphas to spell out "let's be".  A pair of wintery buddies and some snowy white spray was all I needed to reflect the challenge colors.  There, I made it sound breezy. Let's pretend that this card came together that easily, that it wasn't an uphill battle all the way.  You always practise full disclosure around the holidays...

I hope you like it!  And join us in crafting - you could win a prize from lawn fawn.

a very girly xmas.

It's lawn fawn's holiday inspiration week!

I tried to break out of my regular kraft/red/white/green christmas card colors... but this is what happens when Sofia is crafting next to me and giving me 'suggestions':

a very girly xmas.

Ha.  we're 20 shades of pink and grey with this card.  I used that snowfall stencil stencil again, with the embossing paste and some glitter.  I'm obsessed.  The making frosty friends snow-girl is resting atop her mountain of shimmery pink snow, with only the girliest of little birdies for companions.

I hope you like it! Sofia already claimed this one for her home-room teacher.

warmest wishes.

It's time for another lawnscaping challenge!  The lawnscaping team is challenging you to be inspired by something on the web (it doesn't have to be pinterest) and then show off your inspiration photo as well as your own creation.

With my Christmas card classes happening every friday night, (click!) I am in a holly jolly cardmaking mood almost all the time.

My favorite online place for holiday card inspiration is "Minted."  A few of my recent christmas cards were borne out of a little browsing through their selection of non-photo holiday cards.  Like, this:

I wish lawn fawn had a little sweater image! But, I made do:

warmest wishes.

I used the socks from "my silly valentine," the scarf and mittens from "making frosty friends," and the little snowflake from "let it snow."  The sentiment is from papertrey ink, the twine is from lawn fawn, and I added a stripe of grey copic coloring at the top and the bottom of the white mat.

warmest wishes.

I hope you like it!  Play along with us, you could win a fawnie prize!

An ugly sweater of a card.

Hi friends!

This post kicks off October's edition of lawn fawn inspiration week for me.  Today, we're showcasing lawn cut dies for older essentials: winter bunny, making frosty friends, and winter owl.

My offering is completely tongue in cheek:

ugly sweater card.

Pattern overload, and oversized images... it's so ugly it's cute.  I've always wanted to convince my family to do an ugly sweater party for Christmas, but we're too immigrant for that... my parents always gave me raised eyebrows and changed the subject.  I wonder if we'd even find very many kitchy sweaters at our local thrift stores... stay tuned *wink*

ugly sweater card.

My favorite part is the candy cane in frosty's twiggy hand.  Let's pretend I'm a knitter who decided that the stripes of the candy cane would be a nice compliment to the the sweater's trim... ha.

fortune #337: jolly times are in your future.

I just happened to have a bag of coconut marshmallows in our pantry, and then I saw the moxie fab holiday food & treat wrap challenge pop up.  Game on.

snowballs are in your future

Obviously, a snowman jumping out of a chinese takeout box was the way to go.  ha.  I had just made a silhouette purchase for the box shape, and making frosty friends was lying on my desk... so, it wasn't so much a brilliant idea as it was lazy convenience *wink*

snowballs are in your future

Having the snowman jump out of the takeout box, all Betty Boop style, cracks me up.  I'm kind of hoping someone else giggles a little too... I can't be the only weirdo up in here.  I cut apart the flaps of the takeout box image, and glued them to the outsides, so that I could fit mr. frosty in there.

Don't you love the new Lawn Fawn papers?  The patterns are so sweet.

snowballs are in your future

Using the silhouette software, I was able to create the custom sentiment to fit exactly inside the fortune frame.  I love how it curves and everything.

I put a little baggie of those marshmallows inside, but I also thought of fortune cookies, half dipped in chocolate and rolled in red or green sprinkles.  That would be a cute Christmas treat!

I hope you like it!

lawnscaping challenge: dust 'em off!

***This is my 2nd post today!  If you're looking for my CSS release in review post, please scroll down!***

What haven't you inked up in awhile?  We're challenging you, for the newest lawnscaping challenge, to dig into your stash and find that set that hasn't felt the tap-tap-tap into an ink pad in awhile...

I'm still churning out cards for upcoming Christmas card classes that I'm teaching, so I dusted off "making frosty friends" and paired it with the newer "let it snow."

I stamped the trees and snow flurries in white ink onto a red card-stock mat.  I then adhered my snowman, fully accessorized, of course (!) and poked a few holes in the red card-stock so that I could thread the twine and make it look like he's holding up the "let it snow" sign.

The embossed snow bank, and a strip of faux-washi tape finish off my wintery scene.

Hope you'll join us this week!
