Winner, winner!

Happy Monday morning!

I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend. We welcomed back my in-laws after 4 months away in India. I felt sorry that they were coming home to a fresh snowfall! We also took to re-finishing our dining room table. What once looked like this, all dark and glossy,

is now morphing into this:

We're excited! We are staining newbies, so we may have gone a little heavy-handed with the gray stain. There may be some drips down the front of the white legs too... but we are having fun experimenting and learning. The table is pretty indicative of how differently I'm planning on decorating the new house. I'm breaking up with all of the dark wood.

The real question is what to do with those chairs! Stain or paint the legs? Pattern or solid slipcovers? Let me know what you would do.

Without further ado, I have 2 winners to announce today.

The winner of the new Potted Pretties set:

Yay, Leigh! I hope you enjoy stamping with Potted Pretties!

And then, the winner of the 10$ Lawn Fawn gift certificate:

Miriam, congratulations! I can't wait to see what you choose.

There's still time to comment on the Mama Elephant stampede post to be eligible to win one of the new sets. Thank you to everyone who left comments!

♥.

  3. FUN FUN FUN!! =) I LOVE the look!! I can still remember the first thing I ever helped my mom refinish!! I was 10 and we were in the Storm Cellar!! =) it was an Antique Buffet Hutch and it is still the Center Piece in my parents dinning room!! It is SO Worth the time and the FUN!! I think if I were you, I'd stick to the Stained Legs and have FUN with the Covers!! That way, you have a Good Foundation, and you can just change out the covers as you change the room!! =) HAVE FUN and I hope you share when you get it all done!!?? =) Have a Fabulous Week!!

  4. P.S. the Drips are an easy fix, just get some super Fine Sand Paper (ie 240 -180 Grit) then lightly sand the entire leg and even the Stained Top if you want it alitlle lighter!!?? Then you have two options at this point!! You can repaint the legs to smooth everything out, or if you'd like a more aged look you can add what they call a Wax!! You can get it in Colors or just a Clear Finish, but this will help to smoth everything out and to give it an even more Aged and Textured look!! Hope this helps!! =) The same goes for the Top of the Table!! That is the AWESOME thing about the Stain, if you don't like it just sand it down alittle and try it again!! =) I personally have really become fond of the Wax!! =)

    1. thanks Larissa! I love re-painting old furniture - it's such a fun experiment. A hutch must have taken forever to work at! We suck at staining, though. haha. the table-top is a little splotchy but we're going with it. If we hate it in a few months, we'll haul it back out and re-do it all. I will for sure share a picture of it when it's out of the garage!
