SSS guest post

Hi there!

I'm up on the SSS blog this morning with a fun card featuring a lot of florals and a few sweet critters:

You can hop on over there for a complete supply list, but I used all Neat and Tangled stamps and dies.

In case you missed my tutorial from a few weeks ago, I show how to remove the swing + girl from the elephant stamp so that you could use her all by herself like I did for this card - click HERE for that tutorial!

Magnolia (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to day 3 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week! Today, we're showing off a sweet floral set designed by Danielle, called Magnolia.

Magnolia (Neat and Tangled release week)

I colored a bunch of the floral images and clustered them around the sentiment strip. I stamped a sentiment from Friendly Florals. I wanted to make sure that the sentiment was simple in font and not too long, so that the flowers would really shine.

The flowers themselves were colored using copic markers. I colored the flower centers in deeper pinks, and faded out the pink into a light violet color on the edges.

I used foam squares to adhere everything to a polka dot background (the die is by Lawn Fawn.) Underneath the polka dot layer, I hid a sheet of aqua cardstock. It's subtle, and adds a pop of color and interest to the base.

I hope you like it! Before you go, leave me a comment! As always, Danielle will award one commenter a $25 gift card to the NT store at the end of the week, chosen from among the design team blogs this week.

Color challenge (for Ellen Hutson)

Hi there!

I have a pretty card to share today, made with goodies from the Ellen Hutson store.  I created a card using this color palette as my inspiration:

I just want to say, I am terrible with colors. I had to keep asking my daughter if the colors I was choosing were a match. At the end of it, she threw her hands up and said "good enough." ha.

You'll let me know what you think:

I used Neat and Tangled's Friendly Florals set, and fit together not only the flower clusters but some of the extra blooms to create a fullness around the cut-out (especially at the top.)

I used the new Avery Elle watercolors to paint a background on the base layer, and then used Neat and Tangled's Hello Winter to heat-emboss the greeting in the middle.

I flecked lighter and darker inks over the purple/blue watercolored background, and added white gel pen highlights to the flowers.

I hope you like my take on the color board inspiration! Thanks for stopping by!

Friendly florals (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome to day 3 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week. All of the products shown this week will be available in the NT store on Friday morning.

I'm excited to share today's set with you. I never thought I'd be one to design a floral set, but Danielle encouraged me to put my spin on one and I love how Friendly Florals turned out:

I stamped the biggest floral arrangement twice, to frame the sentiment:

I colored the flowers in shades of pink and red, heat-embossed the sentiment on a contrasting mint-colored cardstock, and matted the Scalloped frame onto a piece of pink plaid paper (from Lawn Fawn.)

I love the sweet sentiment. We hand-make these cards to show our hearts, don't we? To make our friends and family smile and know how much we care.

I hope you like this look at my first-ever floral set! Let me know what you think before you leave - there will be a winner chosen from among the blog comments at the end of the week, to the tune of a 25$ gift card to the NT store.

Be sure to check out the Neat and Tangled blog this morning - the design team knows what to do with florals more than I do - I was blown away to see their creations! click!

No words (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome to day 2 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week. All of the products shown this week will be available for purchase this Friday morning.

Today, we're showing off a new set designed by Miriam, called No Words. It is filled with messages of love and support for when there are really... no words.

No words (Neat and Tangled release week)

I paired the sentiment set with some florals that I designed (you'll see more of them tomorrow!) I stamped and die-cut some of the smaller sprigs and arranged them into a bouquet. I tied them with a bit of twine and framed out the bouquet with heartfelt sentiments from No Words.

The patterned paper are a bit of an ecletic mix (the one directly under the florals is from a Christmas pack!) but I like how they work together.

I hope you like what I've created today! Be sure to leave a comment here before you go - one person will win a 25$ gift card to the NT store from among the design team blog comments.
