10 minute craft dash with Precious Remembrance.

how's that for a fancy title.

The Precious Remembrance team is joining Paulina for this week's 10 minute craft dash!  I have to admit that this was my hardest one.  I never work with lavender  and Precious Remembrance is more sentiment than image oriented.  Apparently, in a time crunch, I rely on cute smiley faces to make my card look more impressive than it really is ;)



The rest of the team will be showing off the new PR set, "little one."   My international mailing saga has taken a turn: the package was apparently re-routed to somewhere in Chicago by the Canadian customs department.  Don't ask.  I have no idea.

Here's how I spent my 10 minutes:

minutes 1-2: immediately turned on my silhouette, selected a speech bubble shape from my library and set it to cut.  In the meantime, I gathered my PR stamps: positive thoughts and mom & dad.

minutes 3-5: stamped the heart in yellow, the sentiment in purple, and the splotches in green.  color combo success. I sponged around the edges.

minutes 6-7: created a folded card base, sponged around the card edges, and rummaged through my stamps for that little lawn fawn smiley.  Apparently, I still needed a smiley face, and even the tiniest one would do.

minute 8: stamped it in the bottom left corner.

I ended with a time of 8 minutes and 4 seconds.  No fuss, no muss.  My quickest dash time ever!

It's time for another 10 minute craft dash!  And, with lawn fawn sponsoring, some of the girls got to playin' along.  I thought to myself - been there, done that, when the lawn fawn girls were gasping over the short time frame.  But you know what?  It's still a rush!

I actually had a harder time getting 'er done in the 10 minutes...could be because one of my kids asked me to stamp them some bunnies halfway in :)

I kept it pretty simple:  a kraft card-base, a banner label that I found in my reject stash (it was already embossed with that waffle pattern), and 2 square die-cuts.  I stamped a bunny (from "happy easter") on each, and colored around the bunnies, to bring in the pink and green colors that are required for the challenge.  I also did a tiny bit of shading on the bunnies, using a light grey marker.

Once I adhered them to the card-base, added a few hearts, stamped my sentiment, and stamped extra bunnies for the whiny child, I had already hit a bit over 9 minutes.  I took the last minute to debate whether or not to add some sparkle to the white hearts.  Time ran out and I was still paralyzed in indecision.  Saved by the ding.

holidays tags... in 10 minutes!

I'm thrilled to be joining the fun over at Pretty Pink Posh for a special edition of the 10 minutes craft dash!

You have from now until December 15th, to create a fabulous project, and all you have to do is make it in under (or around) 10 minutes, and feature a red element in your project (a no-brainer, so close to Christmas!)

For my project, I created a set of 3 Christmas tags, using the adorable "no peeking" set by Mama Elephant.  The only thing I did ahead of time was to create a slightly larger cut file of the tag image, and set it to cut in my cameo silhouette while I was crafting.  I ended up with an entire sheet of white tags that I could layer my quick & easy tags onto...

First thing:

 

Stamp the tag images and the little critters, as well as the hole-reinforcer image.  Took barely a minute.  Then, place masks onto the critters (I ALWAYS create masks when I first receive a stamp set, especially if it involves adorable critter images.  I store them with the stamp set for future use.  It's part of my before-I-play-with-the-set rituals.)

Once the masks are in place, grab a sponge and some juicy red ink (I used Fresh Ink, but you could use Distress Ink) and start building up the red color.  I love that this gave me all kinds of shadows and variations of color.  I took my time here - this step took me about 3 minutes.



Now, slowly unmask the images.  Perfection!  Stamp the "no peeking" sentiment on each tag, color in the scarves, cut each tag out and adhere to the larger white tags.  Three holiday tags created in 9 mins, 35 seconds...

Then, with the time run out, make some more tags because this was too much fun:
