it's a bird, it's a plane, it's... my hero.

*originally posted on July 26, 2013, I'm re-posting for those of you coming from the lawn fawn blog. enjoy!*

super owl! my hero...

You may have seen this card on the lawn fawn blog already, but I wanted to share it here too.

I used the upcoming sets, woodgrain backdrops and critters in costume, as well as blissful botanicals and home sweet home.

my home is with you {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Welcome to another day of lawn fawn inspiration! We are showcasing "riley's abc's" - a super fun-looking alphabet set.

I decided the a full quote would be the best way to show it off:

at home with you.

I paired riley's with a little birdhouse and used clouds as masks only to create my little scene.  I alternated using the capital and lowercase letters, to create visual interest.

at home with you.

I kept things soft by stamping in a dark grey ink instead of black, and tied a matching ribbon around the bottom of the card.  I'm kind of digging this orange, kraft and grey scheme - what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

Framed birdie baby {lawnscaping challenge}

April 1st, and no fooling - it's time for another lawnscaping challenge :)  Although, I'm not fooling when I say that the blog post title is the best I could come up with this morning.  I am beyond exhausted!  Anyone else with sick kids wanna give me a holla?  Misery loves company *wink*

Back to the challenge: we're asking you to get creative with embossing!  For my sweet birdie card, I embossed the frame with an aqua powder (from zing!) and then colored it in with copic markers.  I fussy-cut it out, and stamped a little scene using images from "home sweet home."

I stamped all of the elements, and then masked them all to be able to add my clouds in the background.  The sentiment is just so perfect for a family welcoming their first child... I love it.

I hope you make time to play along.  We're sponsored by Simon Says Stamp this week:

Have a happy day!

home sweet home {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Hi friends!

After a day break, we're back with more lawn fawn inspiration.

Home sweet home

"Home sweet home" is just the sweetest set.  I created a little framed scene for you, and tried to show it off as best I could.  The twig and birdhouse were cut with the oh-so-amazing matching lawn cuts and popped up.  I'm still lovin' the fact that I can stamp, color, and then die-cut.  And it works perfectly every single time.

The rest of the scene was stamped, colored, and then masked so that I could stamp the subtle line image from "interlocking backdrops" in a light brown ink to fill the entire background.  I also added a blue 'frame' around my scene: I impressed the card-stock with a woodgrain pattern, and then cut it into 4 strips, fitting the corners together with "mitered" edges.

I love my pink-bellied birds, and those coiled flight lines, especially.
