The little ants in Mama Elephant's new Small Talk set have a lot to say!



I thought it would look cute to perch them onto the strawberry plant from Potted Pretties. They have so much personality for such little images! I stamped and colored the images, and then added glossy accents to the berries and ants for some extra interest.

potted pretties {mama elephant stamp highlight}

Hi there! We're winding down the Mama Elephant March stamp highlights with Potted Pretties.

I've already posted a mini card set, and a cactus with a punny sentiment.

I have a few more things to show you:



Whichever of my 2 sisters delivers a baby first gets this card. Ha. One is due in April and the other in June. I hope the order keeps.

I used a sunray stencil to sponge on the light brown ink, and then grounded my main image onto white circle die-cuts.

I can't wait to see how other crafters will color the flowers. I was stuck on blue for the "dad" flower for awhile...

I also made a few tags:



I took a more artsy approach with these.

It was accidental on this tag. I had finished coloring the peeking flowers, and then just took a light copic (E000) to outline the image and give it some pop. I guess it was over-filled because it leaked a huge droplet right onto the tag! Oh well, I was ready to scrap it. But then I kind of liked the hazy quality it gave the image. I held the marker over the tag and let it drip where it wanted to and then gave a wash of color over the whole thing. It's a very fun look!

The banner sweeping across is from the Sweet Havana die set.

Isn't this tag so soft and pretty? Amazing what stamping in a lighter color can do. I stamped it in a light greay memento ink and colored it in, adding some detail to the leaves at the end.

FYI: I checked. a cactus can be considered part of the succulent family. who knew? haha. it made my card work.

I gave my sweet cactus a little bow, added a tiny hearted speech bubble, and framed her out with delicate sprigs.

Potted Pretties, first look and giveaway.

Hi there!

Today is such a special day for me... the day I announce that I am not a one-hit-stamp-designing-wonder! ha!

I am pleased to give you the first look at the new set I illustrated for Mama Elephant, just in time for spring, called Potted Pretties.



I made a card set so I can show off the 4 plants and the sentiments that go with each one.



The giant strawberry is the best of the bunch! She comes without a face, but if you carefully wipe off the top of the round circle image, you can add in a face. And I always think images are cuter with a face on them!



The round face stamp is actually designed for the cactus. Isn't he cute? I wiped off the design on the inside of the pot so that I could stamp the sentiment inside to match the rest of the cards in my set.



These little flowers are playing peekaboo around the leaves. I love the "i've been missing you" sentiment! They look like they can't find each other.

The last image is the one that sparked the entire set. I found out both of my sisters were expecting babies this spring/summer and it sparked my imagination to doodle this image.

Here, I colored the flowers to match my own family's skin colors! I'm imagining my indian husband, my light greek skin tone and my kids with their beautiful mixed hues. hee hee.
