we blend well together!

Hi there! It's time for this month's Lawn Fawn inspiration week! We're kicking things off with a closer look at the fun blender-themed set, So Smooth.

I love smoothies, and I love this set! Last night (since the hubs and I splurged on a huge taco and churros lunch date) I had a lemon, pineapple, cucumber and parsley smoothie for supper. YUM!

I used the Stitched Rectangle Frames to create different sections.  The card takes on a comic-style this way. I love the sunglasses you can stamp onto the super cool glasses!



I used a speech bubble from A Birdie Told Me to house the greeting.

You want a piece of me?

My blog post title is all bravado, but I'm bashful and all tingly warm inside to be October's CASE study muse!

The inspiration photo is taken from a mini cherry party I threw some time ago (click!)

So, real cherry pie, meet sassy cherry pie:

I stamped the smiley-faced-wanna-be-tough pie, colored it cherry, and added a computer generated sentiment to fit into lawn fawn's speech bubble.  (If you haven't noticed by now, I keep using the same 2 or 3 fonts.  Font snobs:  let it go, or help a sister out.)

Although I painstakingly stamped all of the red and aqua stripes in the inspiration party, I took a lazier (read: faster) route here:



Sorry the photo is a bit fuzzy.  Nothing like holding the camera over your head so you could get markers and everything in the frame.  The colors I used are R29 and BG32, if you are interested.

bee sweet. {lawn fawn sneaks!}

Are you excited to see new lawn fawn sets?  I can't wait to show them off!



Critters in costume is the cutest set ever!  And what does a bear in a bee costume dream about on halloween night?  Candy corn, of course!



I love his glittery bee wings, and glossy snout.



and speaking of glossy.... mmm.... candy corn.  I have a friend who loves stale candy corn, specifically.  ha.  don't know how I feel about that one.

It's lawnscaping time! This one is a sketch challenge:

I kept this one simple:

It makes me smile, and I hope it does for you too!  I went back to my very first lawn fawn stamp set (!) and created this little scene.



The sketch shows a cloud in the corner, but I wanted to do something a little different.... apparently, I couldn't completely veer from the cloud shape, though!  I picked the thought bubble from "a birdie told me."



The sentiment was printed.  I love creating custom sentiments - it's a great way to get a fresh use out of older stamp sets :)

ps, I just got back from a little trip to Texas, to visit a sweet friend.  It's the first time I've ever been away from the kids for longer than the time it takes to birth another one, hee hee.  I was slightly worried that they would be nonchalant about my return, the way they usually are for their daddy when he comes home from a business trip.... but being greeted at the gate with flowers and bouncing kids who won't stop coming in for kisses is pretty nice.  Maybe absence really does make the heart grow fonder (aaaaaaaand, just like that, I've tied it back into my card.  You like? hee.)

Ruff day? {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Welcome back to another day of lawn fawn inspiration: it's Quinn's capitals day today!

I know this little doggy is bending down to play, but I thought he could look a little down, too... I used Quinn's abcs and riley's abcs to create the custom sentiment.  The largest speech bubble from a birdie told me doubled as the rug under his feet.



I hope glossy accents never go out of style.

inlaid dies {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Hi, and welcome back to another day of lawn fawn's inspiration week!  Today we are breathing new life into older sets with companion dies!  I am so excited to now have lawn cuts for gnome sweet gnome, sunny skies, and admit one.

I took advantage of the dies to create a little gnomie ensemble for you:



A little card & gift set, using the gnome and mushroom house dies.

Here, the mushroom house was blurry in that last picture :)  Both feature a little stamped background of adorably happy mushrooms.



But my absolute fave element of this project is the way the speech bubble is fitted into the gnome - a perfect inlaid design.  I think flattening your images is huge in paper-crafting lately - I see more use of negative space and placing die-cuts back into their cut-outs than anything else.  The look is very clean - and I love that!

Here's a little how-to (and ignore the fact that the coloring on the examples isn't very good, ok?):

Think of the possibilities!  All the things your lawn fawn critters could say, or how they could cozy up to each other - hee hee.

a foxy christmas.

Good Monday morning!

Here's another card that we created at my most recent Christmas card class.  It was inspired by *this card* of Yainea's.  She's brilliant, and if you've never stopped by her blog, please take a peek.  The cute things she does with lawn fawn stamps are incredible!

I actually have to admit to liking her card better than mine, but it was fun to turn her fall card into a Christmas-themed one.

lawnscaping: the texty challenge.

Good Monday morning!

This week was non-stop, and not sleepy enough, but what do you know?  Monday came anyways ;)

And with that, a new lawnscaping challenge!  This one: to incorporate text into your project.

 I went a little overboard with the textiness, hee hee.  I grabbed a sheet of PTI "dearest jane" patterned paper, and stamped images from lawn fawn's "sunny skies," "a birdie told me," and "gnome sweet gnome" over-top.  I colored the images in with copics and outlined each one with a light grey marker, to give some definition to the images without losing the translucent effect of having stamped them onto the text paper.

The speech bubble was stamped again onto white cardstock (with a hero arts sentiment inside, from "my happy") and then cut out and propped up on foam squares.

The focal panel was sewn onto a piece of kraft cardstock and both layers were adhered to a white card-base.
