Time for another lawnscaping challenge!

I don't usually copy myself, but I had someone ask me for a set similar to *this one.*  Sooo, a 3-D paper-pieced cake, fawnie-style:



I used "bake me a cake," "blissful botanicals," and "bannerific" to create this vintage-y card.  I love that lawn fawn images can take a more elegant turn, depending on how you use them!



A few rolled flowers, with a side-order of cake.

a gnomie birthday to you!

We're celebrating the lawnscaping challenge blog's birthday!  Time to take out your lawn fawn stamps and get creative: make a card, hand-stamp a gift-wrap, or even make some cute cupcake toppers.

Confession time:  I've watched "Gnomeo and Juliet" more times than I'd like to admit this holiday season.  I found it on liquidation, and stuck it under the tree for the kids as an afterthought, and they have become obsessed.  My 2 year old walks around the house, yelling out quotes from the movie.  Oy.

So, it was only natural that I would stamp a birthday gnome for lawnscaping's big day (and then use some leftover cake-pops for the photo-staging, hee hee):



Here's the how-to: Start out by stamping the gnome, from "gnome sweet gnome" and add a little party pom-pom to the top of his hat (really, a puff of train smoke from "pa-rum-pa-pum-pum").  Next step is to mask the gnome and his pom-pom, and stamp the cake (from "bake me a cake").  Add a smiley face to the cake (I borrowed a gingerbread's smile, from "sweet christmas.")  And guess what?  Mask that too.  Stamp the balloon next, (from "admit one") and mask that too.  After every image is sporting a mask, stamp the "wishing happy birthday to you" sentiment (from "check this out") repeatedly, until the entire piece of cardstock is filled.  Using a sponge, rub distress ink over the entire piece, to make the background more subtle.  Remove the masks, and color in with copic markers.  Add a little liquid-appliqué to the gnome's party hat pom-pom to seal the deal.

lawnscaping sketch challenge.

TGIF, right?

I managed to create something for the current lawnscaping challenge on our last day of spring break:

I used some SU patterned papers, and lawn fawn's "bake me a cake" to create my card.  I love me some paper-piecing :)  And liquid applique icing?  yummy!

birthday birthday to you!

Today, being the official birthday of my dad and sister (yes, on the same day - exactly 30 years apart), I thought it only fitting to post one more birthday card.

My little Maia, at 19 months old, is gearing up to sing "happy birthday" to them - I never knew the whole song could be sung with basically only 2 words: birthday and maia.  When she gets going, it's hilarious: "birthday birthday, maia maia... birthday birthday to you!"

The card is relatively simple, but I like the flow of the circles!  I used lawn fawn's "bake me a cake" and "bannerific."  The cake was stamped with memento brown ink, and colored with copics.  I used my colorless blender to add textures to both cake layers.  The cake stand was colored directly on the white circle mat, but the rest of the cake was popped up on foam squares.  All the edges were sponged with vintage photo distress ink.
