Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Guest Designer

Happy New Year! If you are looking for my season's givings blog post (with the giveaway), then click!

Right now, I'm guesting with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog:

I am still in party mode and since the theme for this week's SSS wednesday challenge is "something new" I thought sharing a project from our new year's party would be just the thing.

We were entertaining kids as well as adults, so I made sure to have hourly entertainment for the children.  Cupcake decorating, karaoke, wii marathon, photobooth fun  - whew! I'm not quite recovered yet, but everyone had a good time.

I wanted the hours to be seen without having to peer over the top.  I folded a length of chipboard for each one and secured them with double-stick tape.

I hope you like them!  I used lawn fawn numbers and alphas, as well as their circle and scallop circle dies to create the toppers.

Play along! You could win a 50$ voucher to the SSS store.

A lucky winner will be chosen at random and it could be you!

Come back tomorrow - I'll share another new year's eve project, and tell more about the die I used to create the boxes you saw today.

Happy new year & a CSS app card

Happy new year, peeps!

Our celebrations were small, and at home.  The hubs and I struggled to stay awake, and Maia was asking for her bed around 8pm, but Sofia and Thomas were on a sugar-high or something *rolls eyes*  (maybe I did a little too much baking for the soirĂ©e...)  Sofia called everyone she knew yesterday, to tell them that she made it "past midnight."

Do you choose a word for the year?  My word for the year is simply TRY.  Last year, we chose JOY.  The year before, BREATHE (because some years, that's all you can do.)  This year, we have so many resolutions and goals, and I don't want to feel like my word is anything more than just to try my best to reach them.  Plus, Maia's been walking around the house singing the chorus to that Pink song: "you gotta get up and try, try, try."  So, I'm gonna.

To kick off the new year, I have a card on the CSS app today:

Click on the image to be taken to the CSS app store.  Download it, for fun CSS inspiration for every day of 2013!

What a year! {top 12 of 2012}

I'm sitting here, typing up this year-in-review post, and desperately trying to make sense of the idea of another year over.  I feel this way every December.  Where did the time go?  What did I even accomplish this year?  How did the kids grow up so much in a year??

In all honesty, I'm not one for big new year's resolutions: they stink of failure after the resolve behind the decision fizzles out.... (I'd rather make my huge resolution in, say, October - and not start out the new year feeling like I've already let myself down.)

But I'm a firm believer in looking-back-before-moving-forward.

Sooo, that being said, enjoy this month-by-month look back at some of my favorite projects of the year, before we move into a new year of crafty ventures together :)
