PTI anniversary, day 1.

I don't usually post on Sundays, and I was even reasoning with myself that I have a lot on my creative plate - what with making all of the decor for my little sister's upcoming baby shower - so I might not be able to post much to the old blog this week.... pfffffft!

That was before I remembered it's:

And they started out their celebrations with the offer of a SWEET prize.  All you have to do is create a project inspired by one of their designer's favorite PTI creations and link it up *here.*

Being in the midst of creating all things baby girl-related, I couldn't help using Melissa's onesie card as my jumping-off point:

(and, as a bonus, her top 5 favorite PTI products).

Here's my take:

I just finished creating those fabric-wrapped-styrofoam-balls last night... perfect for a baby-shower centerpiece, don't you think?  And I love how the onesie card compliments it so well.  I might have to incorporate it all as our centerpiece...

I stamped the pink onesie base with a versamark-layer of "polka-dot basics II", and then the florals and dots from "harvest berries" over-top in fresh snow ink.

The stork is from "bundle of love," and I stamped him off to the side to make room for the grey-tissue-paper hearts.  I sewed a stack of them in place with my sewing machine, so that I could fluff them up a bit.  A pop of whimsical texture...

The sentiment, from "baby button bits," was curved to fit around the oval shape.

Hope you like it!  I guess you'll be seeing alot of PTI on the blog this week ;)

baby, it's cold outside.

Like, freezing.

We took the kids to play outside this weekend, and the only sane one was Maia, who just stood there in her full snow-suit, crying, because it was so cold.  10 minutes later, I scooped her up and we stayed inside watching the other weirdos climb the mounds of snow and shoot white stuff at each other for the better part of an hour.  I think it was something like -22 degrees (celcius).  Now that is cold.

Only fitting, then, that Lawnscaping should post a "winter wonderland" challenge.  And only right that I should jump on that, since I'm currently living inside a snow-globe.

I grabbed a piece of PTI guidelines grid cardstock and ran it through my die-cutter with their "take 3" die.  It left me 3 little openings into which I could stamp those adorable penguins (from Lawn Fawn's "critters in the snow".)  I did have to mask off around the squares so that the penguins didn't overlap into their neighbors' squares.  Didn't want to cause an icy riot, you know.  I then masked off the penguins as well and stamped a layer of polka dots (PTI's polka dots basics II) in a light blue ink.  I outlined the penguins with a light grey copic marker, to make them stand out a little more.

On the white mat, I stamped the igloo from the same set, outlined it with a light blue copic marker, and sponged the edges with tumbled glass distress ink.  Then, I sprayed it with a healthy layer of Mister Huey's calico white spray.  Looks like the igloo was caught in a blizzard, non?

The sentiment was white-heat-embossed onto a light blue banner, and the whole mat was mounted with foam squares onto the kraft card-base.

Thanks for peeking!

PTI blog hop: fabric pumpkins.

From this:

to this:

Would you believe in all of my stamp collection, this was the only pumpkin image I could find?  I guess I really don't make fall & halloween-type cards very often... *shaking head*

Apart from the chocolate brown card base and the chartreuse felt, everything else started out as a piece of white cardstock.  I also pulled a bit of blue from the inspiration photo background - the bobbin thread I chose for my zig zag stitch is light blue...

thanks for looking!
