I am squeezing in an entry for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge:

And here's my card:

I layered PTI's distressed stripes on the card base in pink and yellow, with a peach doily, some patterned papers, and a CSS ragdoll (colored in bubblegum shades to meet the challenge.)

PTI september blog hop: photo inspiration

I looked at the inspiration photo and thought rainbow :)

I used the same colors found in the stripes on the floor, but curved them... and left lots of white space all around.

little black dress.

This one's for my PTI princesses - you stylish ladies!

The challenge was to use a banner on our cards - I kept it super simple with PTI's double-ended banner.

I started out with a basic grey card base (SU) and used my button boutique die (PTI) to cut a very large window in the middle.  I used my "vintage wallpaper" background stamp to create the look of those lacey, little black dresses.  You know the ones I mean?  So cute.  Wish I could pull them off... sigh.

My lady is from "iconic image" (PTI), and because I didn't want her to be a weird, floating head in a vast expanse, I added a mat stack 5 layer to back her up.

CAS-ual fridays: long cards

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week is to create a 4x9 card... clean-and-simple-style!  And their words of instruction: you must resist the urge to fill it.

I kept it to one side with my bitty party birds... the birthday boy wears the hat!



stamps: little bitty bird+simple sentiments (both PTI)
paper: pear pizazz, blushing bride, marine mist, concord crush (all SU!), grid lines+kraft (PTI)
ink: versamark, chocolate chip (SU!)
misc: taffeta ribbon

sweet birthday...

I needed a quick birthday card, and the sketch over at CAS-ual Fridays was just the jumping off point that I needed to make it happen.

I'm really excited to have another sketch to work with - I love seeing how many different directions a single sketch can go...  I took mine to a sweet spot:

Is there anything more synonymous than birthdays and cupcakes?  We're still dealing with the "under 6" club, and they are convinced that no major celebration can pass by without being sealed with cupcakes.  I wholeheartedly agree.

For this card, I paper-pieced the cute little cake out of scraps of SU papers and set it aside.  I created a mask  and stamped PTI's chevron stripes inside, using SU's blushing bride ink.  The sentiment (from PTI's simple sentiments) was curved around the chevron semi-circle.  I love being able to do that with clear stamps - and it really helped to define the area a bit better.  Here's a bit of a closer peek:

modern basics gift set.

I broke up with my camera yesterday.  We are not on speaking terms over how today's cards were photographed...

I used a cute set called "modern basics" - it contains all sorts of building blocks that allow for so much creative play!  And play I did. I had so much fun that I couldn't stop at 1 card - I stamped 4  :)

Now, as I was saying about my camera (I had to take a short break in there and talk about the stamps so I wouldn't start getting stressed again), it - not me, natch - made it look like my card colors are grey and orange.  I would like to state, for the record, that although grey and orange is a delightful combination, I actually went with yellow and grey.  And because I love that combo so much, I'm doubly annoyed that it wouldn't photograph well.  Sigh.  C'est la vie, non?

I built the cards using 2 sets, 2 colors, and 2 papers:

• modern basics + simple sentiments (both PTI)
• going grey + daffodil delight inks (both SU)
• guidelines (PTI) + going grey cardstocks (SU)

It was very refreshing to sit down with more limited supplies and see what I could come up with!
