A winter deer family (Neat and Tangled)

Hi there!

I'm here and on the Neat and Tangled blog this morning, with a Christmas card that mixes a few sets to create a family of winter deer:

A winter deer family

Before I start chattering about the card, I would just like to say that thank goodness I treated myself to an external flash for my camera recently! I still prefer to take pictures in nice lighting, but at least I have an alternative now. What do you think?

Back to the card! I started out by stamping out my deer. The mama and papa deer are from Oh Deer, and the little one making a tiny snowman is from Santa's Wonderland. I think they all look so cute together!

I colored them all using my favorite brown copic marker trio: E30, E31, and E34. I went back in and added some W5 in the spots that would be most shaded.

I added rolling snowbanks beneath their hooves, using our Stitched Slopes dies.

I added a gingham paper sky and popped up the focal images before creating a frame using 2 rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn.

I stamped out the greeting, from Nativity Play to the bottom of the frame using a crisp black ink. I'm so happy to have this french greeting for all of our teacher cards this year! We live right outside the city of Montreal, and our kids are in a french-immersion program.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

25 Days of Christmas Tags (Neat and Tangled)

Hi there!

I'm thrilled to be participating in Tracey Mcneely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags again this year!

There are sponsors for every day of the event, and today's sponsor is Neat and Tangled.

I am loving a red, black and white combo for Christmas this year. The snowman, from Snow Fun, is so cute looking down at his little friend. The little speech bubble with the heart in it is from Oh Deer, and the sentiment is from Christmas Sentiments. I used the Build A Tag die set to create the tag.

Merry Christmas, deer!

Hi there!

I have a cute little card to share today, made with goodies you can find in the Ellen Hutson store:

Merry Christmas, deer!

I'm still not over my love for a black and red buffalo check! I created the pattern using the Plaid Maker stamp set - I stamped the images in black onto a sheet of red cardstock. This stamp set is so easy to line up and use! Don't be intimidated by it. I love that the squares are so nice and big.

Once that base layer was created, I used a Reverse Stitched Scalloped Square Window die to create an area for my focal image.

Merry Christmas, deer!

The sweet deer (from Oh Deer) was stamp and colored with copic markers. My favorite combo for light brown critter coloring is E30, E31 and E33.

I set him against snow drifts, and backed him against a snowy night sky.

The first part of the sentiment was heat embossed onto a strip of black cardstock, which I trimmed out to fit over the larger DEER. I love that I could colored and die-cut that word!

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh deer! (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome back to Day 3 of this month's Neat and Tangled release week! I'm excited to show off my full-sized set for this month, Oh Deer.

It features 2 sets of deer that face each other, and can be mixed and matched for all kinds of fall and winter cards.

I used them on a fall-themed card earlier this week (click!) so for today's card I skipped all the way to Christmas:

I borrowed part of a sentiment from Merry Kisses, and paired it with the cut-out sentiment from Oh Deer.

I gave the happy deer some snow-banks to stand on and set them against a candy-cane striped background paper.

I hope you like it! As usual, be sure to leave me a comment before you go - you could win a $25 store gift card! The winner will be announced on Friday morning on the Neat and Tangled blog.

Hello fall! (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome to Neat and Tangled's September release week! We're kicking things off with a closer look at Hello Fall, and I've paired it with a set of deer you'll meet later on this week:

Hello fall! (Neat and Tangled release week)

I love the big scripty "fall" sentiment and I knew I wanted it front and center on this card. I started out by stamping out all of the images: the deer (from Oh Deer, which will be shown on Wednesday), and a slew of leaves and mushrooms from Into The Woods. There are beautiful leaf images in Hello Fall, but I opted to use these instead because the weight of the black outlines matched better.

On the base layer of white cardstock, I wanted to give some subtle interest without saturating the paper with sponged ink. I opted for the Radiating Star stencil, and I dabbed on the lightest brown ink with very little pressure. I think it helps give more movement to the falling leaves!

I hope you like it! As usual, there are giveaways happening all week:

Visit the NT blog this morning and leave a comment for a chance to win Hello Fall. And, don't forget to leave comments on all of the design team blogs this week - you could win a $25 store gift card come Friday.
