Hello fall! (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

Welcome to Neat and Tangled's September release week! We're kicking things off with a closer look at Hello Fall, and I've paired it with a set of deer you'll meet later on this week:

Hello fall! (Neat and Tangled release week)

I love the big scripty "fall" sentiment and I knew I wanted it front and center on this card. I started out by stamping out all of the images: the deer (from Oh Deer, which will be shown on Wednesday), and a slew of leaves and mushrooms from Into The Woods. There are beautiful leaf images in Hello Fall, but I opted to use these instead because the weight of the black outlines matched better.

Hello fall! (Neat and Tangled release week)

On the base layer of white cardstock, I wanted to give some subtle interest without saturating the paper with sponged ink. I opted for the Radiating Star stencil, and I dabbed on the lightest brown ink with very little pressure. I think it helps give more movement to the falling leaves!

I hope you like it! As usual, there are giveaways happening all week:

Visit the NT blog this morning and leave a comment for a chance to win Hello Fall. And, don't forget to leave comments on all of the design team blogs this week - you could win a $25 store gift card come Friday.

Embroidered Hello and Year Seven (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

Hi there!

I totally flaked out on my post yesterday so you're getting double doses of Lawn Fawn this morning:

Embroidered hello and Year Seven (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

First up, the design team is showing off Lawn Fawn's 7th birthday set! Wowza! I'm so thrilled to be a part of this company for the last few years, and to help celebrate 7 is so great.

Embroidered hello and Year Seven (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I rubbed some blue ink into the center of my focal panel, and added all of the Year Seven images right in there.  For the sentiment, I reached for another set, Happy Happy Happy.  This is a quick and easy card, but so bright and cheery.

My next card took a little longer to put together:

Embroidered hello and Year Seven (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

I had a hard time photographing this card, but in real life it is so sweet and pretty. I did some ink rubbing again, in a soft pink and did the embroidering in the middle of that inked oval.

I mixed images from Fairy Friends, Hello Baby and Joy to the Woods.

I hope you like them! Thanks for stopping by!

ETC Papers + Neat and Tangled week

Hi there!

Etc Papers + Neat and Tangled week

Neat and Tangled is partnering with Et Cetera Papers to bring you some fun inspiration this week! Et Cetera Papers has the coolest wood stationery and envelopes and I've used some of them in today's card.

Etc Papers + Neat and Tangled week

To ground my images, I used their Birch Wood paper, and added a tiny heart with the Cherry Wood paper to bring in the darker brown of the deer, and to match the envelope.

The little deer, from Into the Woods, was stamped in a lighter ink and colored with copic markers. I love how soft he looks! I used the Making Waves die to create an opening for a fun patterned paper sky. The curved banner is from Mermazing. I carefully (very carefully) snipped away the original greeting so that I could now use the banner more freely. You'll see it again in tomorrow's card! I love how it curves perfectly around the circle.

To ground the deer, I die-cut a strip from Tiny Cuts, and darkened the wood beneath his hooves with a copic marker.

Etc Papers + Neat and Tangled week

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to leave a comment on all participating blogs this week for a chance to win a prize package from Et Cetera Papers.

Springtime cards (with Neat and Tangled)

Hi there! I'm here and on the NT blog this morning, with 2 springtime cards for you. I should mention that it will be snowing in Montreal tonight. but still...

springtime cards (with Neat and Tangled)

My first card pairs the sweet bunny from Cottontail Cuties with the deer from Into the Woods as well as the Floral Heart frame. I used the wavy banner from Scalloped to prop up the bunny a bit, so that they could stare at each other properly. I love how the little animals work so well together!

I went straight-up Easter for the next card:

springtime cards (with Neat and Tangled)

Using the Parquet stencil, I sponged on different shades of pink to act as a backdrop for my images (from Cottontail Cuties.)

To add some ground beneath their feet, I stamped the little grass images from the same set, in a way that would stretch to width of my card and used scissors to cut that out by hand.

The sentiment was stamped directly onto the card base.

I hope you've been inspired to make a few springtime or Easter cards of your own!

so fawned of you

Hi there!
so fawned of you

I paired a few stamp sets and cropped a die-cut to get this fun Valentine's day card.

The deer, from Into the Woods, was stamped, colored and die-cut in soft browns. I used copic markers E30, E31 and E33 for the deer's body, and then E000 to add a hint of color to the white fur parts.

The sentiment is from an older set, Lumberjack Love. I left out the word "quite" (the sentiment reads "i'm quite fawned of you") so that I could fit greeting into the wavy banner (from the Scalloped die set.)

so fawned of you

To give a bit of Valentine pink, I die-cut the Hexastar coverplate, but then trimmed it down to a smaller size.

The black and white stripe patterned paper give the card some graphic weight.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by.

'tis the season!

If today's card looks familiar, it's because I posted a sneak peek on instagram awhile ago, but never shared it fully to the blog. It's one of my favorites this year:

'tis the season!

I used a few Neat and Tangled sets to create this card: Into The Woods for the critters, the little santa from Elfs and Their Shelf, and the santa mug from Beary Merry.

I love how the black background makes everything pop!

Hi there!

I'm joining with Neat and Tangled to show off a new die, Big Hugs. It's a great oversized sentiment die in such a fun font!

big hugs! (neat and tangled release week)

I paired it with the deer from Into the Woods, and the snowman from Beary Merry, and made a frame out of the new Scalloped rectangle dies.

Aren't they cute together?

All of the new products will be for sale in the NT store as of TOMORROW, October 14th at 8AM EST.

Into The Woods (Neat and Tangled release week)

Hi there!

I am so excited to kick off Neat and Tangled's October release week with a new set that I designed, called Into the Woods.

into the woods (Neat and Tangled release week)

I illustrated the 4 critters that you see here: a hedgehog, a badger, a deer and a teeny little mouse. I just think that the little mouse is the sweetest! And that deer is perfect for Christmas and baby cards too, not just for fall!

into the woods (Neat and Tangled release week)

I stamped, colored and die-cut all of the images and set them onto an ink-blended background. The leaves blowing in the wind is including in the set as one image - perfect for framing out the shorter critters and giving the whole card a sense of balance.

I hope you like it! There's more to see on the NT blog this morning - click!

thanksgiving postcards.

Happy thanksgiving, Canadians!  I know Americans still have more than a month before they can enjoy their big turkey dinner, but in the meantime I wanted to share something small that I crafted for the family.

thanksgiving postcards

Have you seen the new release from Simon Says Stamp? I love the new ugly sweater stamp sets that Kristina designed, but I wished for a bigger sweater; something to fit all of my fun lawn fawn stamps.

So I drew my own.

thanksgiving postcards

I illustrated a sweater, printed them 4 to a sheet and stamped them with the adorable acorn and fox from lawn fawn's into the woods set.

thanksgiving postcards

The sweaters are pretty big, and I didn't want to waste too much copic ink, so I sponged on the main sweater color. It's not perfect, since I didn't mask the edges, but it's not bothering me too much.

I made 4 of them: one for each of my kids, and my hubby too.  On the back, I wrote each one of them a little note.

thanksgiving postcards

Just a little way to celebrate the spirit of the thanksgiving holiday, and tell each one of them how blessed I am because of them.

I hope you like them, and the sweaters! I have a feeling you'll see them again sometime. hee.

reverse paper-pieced tags

Hi there!

I have a lawn fawn project to share today, inspired by the tags found in *this* pin.

I love the little animals, with their polka dot backgrounds...so using images from into the woods and lawn fawn polka dot papers, this is what I came up with:

reverse paper-pieced tags

I'll show you step by step how I created these, by doing some "reverse" paper-piecing. (is that a thing? I dunno. ha.)

reverse paper-pieced tags

and voila! With some careful cutting, and cleaning up the edges with the black marker, it looks seamless!  What I also love about this technique is that the backside of the tag is a plain white - just like a print would be.

you'll never know {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Another day of lawn fawn inspiration is coming at ya! I always love it when lawn fawn comes out with new alphabet stamps, and this one is such a great size! A little bigger than the other solid alphas, Clark's abcs is perfect for building custom sentiments.

you'll never know {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I made a sing-song of card, using the new clark's abcs and the deer from into the woods.  I stamped all of it onto the 4x6 journaling card and did my usual thing by coloring the impressed outline with a brush-tipped marker.

you'll never know {lawn fawn inspiration week}

This deer makes everything cuter.  I hand-drew the grass beneath his feet, to ground him and add a touch of whimsy.

I hope you like it!  Visit the lawn fawn blog to see more amazing samples by the design team.  I think today may be my favorite bunch of projects!

Blog hopping with Core'dinations

The lawn fawn girls have been hopping with the Core'dinations team this week!

I just love their cardstock - perfect for embossing and sanding techniques that give a card an amazing amount of texture... check it:

I did a different coloring technique on the fox - doesn't he look fuzzy?  I stamped the outline in a very light memento ink.  As I colored him, the outline became less and less distinct.  It's so soft and artsy.  I want to try this on everything lawn fawn!

And then, there is the gorgeous woodgrain background to talk about...

I embossed a woodgrain pattern onto a piece of their brown cardstock and then used their sanding tool to bring out the pattern even more.  I love the kraft color that is revealed underneath, and the texture is so fun.

To add even more touchy-feely goodness, I roughed up the edges of the woodgrain piece and then sewed a wonky border all around.

I hope you like it!  Check out the lawn fawn blog for even more inspiration.

so foxy.

Another day of the lawn fawn inspiration week!  Are you loving it so far?  Today, we're featuring woodgrain backdrops and the stitched leaves die.  And here is my offering:

so foxy.

I love the look of the white woodgrain on kraft card-stock!  And that fox is, well.... so foxy.  I stamped him first onto the card base and then again on a separate sheet.  After coloring and cutting him out, I glued everything but his tips onto the card-base.  I love how paper can be played with for a cute little extra something.

from a little acorn {into the woods, lawn fawn inspiration}

Welcome back to another day of lawn fawn inspiration!  Today, we're showing off my very favorite stamp set of the entire release, "into the woods."  How could it not be the favorite?  The critters are adorable!!

I wanted to do something completely different with the set, and here's what I came up with:

from a tiny acorn...

I combined the new "peace, joy, love" set with the smiley acorn from "into the woods" for a baby card.  I think the card is pretty easy in terms of the execution, so I won't chatter about it too much.  The sentiment is so perfect for a new munchkin, especially new little Emery in California, who is hopefully drooling all over his card in delight right now.

from a tiny acorn...

A popped-up acorn and a wavy banner make this card simple, but still special.

Thanks for popping by!

Be sure to check out the lawn fawn blog for even more "into the woods" inspiration!
