pretty, pretty peonies.

Soooo, we're on spring break over here.... our family was in Vermont for a little fun until yesterday evening (the last 2 posts were scheduled while we were out swimming, running into Sofia's school principal (!), and trying to calm down a hysterically-teething-Maia.)

When we got home, I had new PTI goodies waiting to be played with - so while Daddy played "guess who" with Sofia and Thomas, (which is hysterical, by the way, because Thomas asks questions like: is yours a real human?  is he bald like mine? do you think he has a bow-tie on?) I dove into the Pretty Peonies anniversary set.

I tried my hand at the MIM-look, without the dies, since I didn't have any fun foam on hand.  I figured, in a pinch, scissors could mimic the look if the shape is basic enough...I stamped one of the floppy bows from "bells & boughs" as a bustle onto the large "happy" from the new anniversary set.  Using my cutter, I hacked off what I could and then used scissors to cut around the rest of the bow.

The little felt dot worked so much better than a button - I think it's SU, and a few years old :)

Can we talk about how easy it was to stamp the background on the card-base?  Like, breezy.  I stamped the flower outlines first, in SU's crumb cake ink, and went back in with the solid peonies (in antique linen distress ink).  Then, a few spring moss leaves, and finally the aqua mist baubles (from "bells & boughs").  B-r-e-e-z-y.  The whole card came together in less than 20 minutes, which was perfectly all the time I could spare.

Thanks for peeking!

  1. Beautiful background stamping! I don't have the foam either and planned to use scissors to cut around as well. I just need to find some time;)

  4. This is such a beautiful card. I can't believe it only took you 20 minutes. I guess when you have three little ones, you get very efficient. And, yes, when things calm down a bit in my neck of the woods, I think a Banner Builder mini blog hop will be just the thing.

  9. That bow technique is the bomb! It looks so cool to have it attached to the happy like that and to have only part of it cut out, what a great job you did with the scissors, by the way!
