CSS release day 3 {ugly is the new cute}

CSS is releasing a new line... of "uglies" - and they are so cute!  There are stamps, dies, and bigger dies - everything you need to throw a monster party, or just celebrate the little monsters in your life :)

I have 2 projects to share with you today... First up, I used the "build-an-ugly" dies to create a set of finger puppets for my kids to play with.  Meet "Theodore," "Clarence," "Orville," and "Walter."  Seriously - the old-style names kill me.

Aren't they cute?  They were a breeze to put together with the dies - and just a couple of punched holes turned them into the perfect playthings....

See? And I love that monsters have "serious conversations" - at least they do when they're narrated by my older 2 *wink.*

As soon as the build-an-ugly dies were previewed, I knew that I wanted to die-cut a few from felt and have a go at stuffing them... so, I created:

The monsters are the perfect size to warm up little hands, or go into the freezer to work icy magic on kid-sized bangs and bruises.  I found *this ehow tutorial* that assured me felt could indeed work for this project, and used some of the "build-a-critter dress-up" dies to add extra personality to these cuties.

Mustached-"Orville" is my absolute fave.  As an added tip: I stuffed the uncooked rice into a nylon, and then stuffed that into the uglies.  I figured if the kids were rough with their owie bags, I would avoid having rice splay out all over the place that way...

"Leroy" got a button nose.  I simply cut another eye, but out of orange felt... oh, and his voluminous mane?  the fox's furry face, turned into a full head 'o hair for this normally-bald ugly.  I felt like a bit of a creative genius on that one!  I love that I could totally change his whole look with these little additions... (and the fact that I curled his mouth into a bit of a snarl is still making me giggle as well...)

Each one of the uglies was outfitted with their own tag, a smaller version of themselves, from the new taglines: uglies set.  I absolutely love that bubbly border, and can see myself using that on so many different projects!

"Herman" (but here, making her debut as "Hermana") sits so comfortably in Sofia's hands.  The pink bows, (from the build-a-critter dress up dies), were a must for her to embrace the "ugly." hee hee.  She's a princess all the way, that one!

I hope you liked my projects today - drop me a comment to let me know.  I would love that!
