I thought I'd reverse the order today - kids stuff first, card second ;) Time for my 2nd thursday installment - my 20-month-old Maia woke up with CRAZY hair the other day (I'd love to say it was an unusual sight, but no), and 2 tufts stood straight up on either side of her head. Sofia, (she's 6), took one look at her, and yelled: "it's like a helicopter!" I whispered a quick something into Maia's ear, and she gave a hearty "go, GADGET!" hee hee. The things we teach our kids. We were all in stitches - it was the most pleasant hurry-up-and-get-to-the-bus morning of the week :) Don't forget to share your own kid-funniness in the comments section - I love hearing them!
Now, back to business/play time: today is Pinterest inspiration over at PTI. Love it. I pinned the print (above) this morning, and got busy.
My full-disclosure for today is that this is the 3rd take on the same card. Some inking-problems, a few layout issues, but I'm happy to say I think I worked them out :) I embossed my card base with an SU folder first. THEN I SET IT ASIDE (no red ink on this one, lol!). Next, I stamped my aqua mist mat with polka dots in versamark ink. The "you" was selectively inked from a "think big favorites" sentiment, and then flanked on either side with part of a picket fence die-cut. The sentiment banner was created as per last week's MIM tutorial - I love the look! I stamped the back-side of the banner with an image from the "mat stack 4" set.
I stamped the bird (from "happy trails") in aqua mist ink and then, with a sponge dauber, inked up his little belly in red ink.
Thanks for looking!
Hi Elena,
ReplyDeleteLove your card - Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy are a match made in heaven (IMHO)!!
Thanks for visiting my blog - have now found you and added you to my lit!
Hugs,

One of my fave colour combos (the poppy more than the brick from your inspiration image, to boot). What did my kid say this week? I had to send her to school with non-conformist gray gym-shorts today. WAY behind on laundry over here. So I told Eva to explain to her teacher, "My mom is not so great at laundry." Her 6 year old reply to me: "Mommy, that's not a very nice thing for me to say about you to my teacher." *swoon* She IS learning values. :D
ReplyDeleteswooning!!! that is the sweetest thing :)
DeleteSo, the aqua background is stamped?
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and fresh color combo.
yes, I did stamp the background - with "polka dot basics II". Thanks for your nice comment!
DeleteLove the colors! Great job with the challenge! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING Elena! I LOVE your card!
ReplyDeleteGosh Elena, you really made a good interpretation from the print. I love aqua mist and the finished card is so soft and pretty.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Elena! the card has the same feel, with a nice delicate-ness to it!
ReplyDeletefabulous card. Love all the elements!
ReplyDeletethis is a stunner...gosh i love it!:)
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Elena! I love all the details you added: the back of the banner, and the background polka dots! So, so well done!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! What a great job.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your efforts were worth the end result. What an original card. Love how you split the picket fence. The bird is darling. Great banner too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Elena. I love how you divided the fence. Great interpretation.
ReplyDeleteYour efforts paid off. This is a beautiful card. I like how you broke up that picket fence. Right now, I can't think of anything cute my daughters have said. Today, most of what they said should not be printed--teenaged girls. But, I think in an hour or two, they will revert to their old sweet selves when they want to be tucked in for the night.
ReplyDeleteGreat card! I love what you did with the Pinterest inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGreat card! I love what you did with the Pinterest inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOh my giddy aunt! This is fantastic! Like the rouged belly bird wasn't fabulous enough, you've wow-ed us with that incredible ribbon banner! So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love how you inked the bird, and I love your banner!! Your kiddo story is too cute... I feel like I should have something to share with you, but it's late, and I'm tired, so drawing a blank :| Maybe another time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Elena! LOVE these colors and your interpretation of the Pinterest photo~you have such a sense of style.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is fabulous, Elena! I truly love it!
ReplyDeleteMy kids say cute things all of the time... and then I can't think of what they are! I know Jonah came home the other day with three Valentine sticker books. When we'd asked where/why he'd gotten them, he'd said that they'd had a sub at school and they could choose a prize if they were good. Apparently the prize he wanted was taken (a stuffie), but he saw the sticker books and thought: "Well, Sage and Mom would like those!" So that's what he picked. :) Okay, I guess that was more sweet than funny... I'll see what else I can remember....
