smile, it's a one-layer challenge!

Happy Monday, everyone!  There's a new lawnscaping challenge to start your week off with a little fun:

Now.

Last time we did a one-layer challenge, there was some confusion as to what we meant.  This time, it means stamps and cardstock.  No added twine, ribbon, patterned paper, or anything that bulks up your card at all.  Nothing popped up.  We never said it was going to be easy, but there is so much opportunity to get creative!

I used the new (you'll be able to get your hands on this stamp set by the end of August!) "into the woods" set.  It's my hands-down favorite of the new releases.

With a big of masking, I was able to stamp out a flat row of critters...

and many rows of the adorable heart border.  If the hearts aren't perfectly straight, it's because I eye-balled the placement... much like every picture frame I hang on my walls at home.  It's all fine.  ha.

After I had stamped and colored everything, I masked all of the animals and sponged some brown ink over the entire card.  I find that having a non-white background really adds depth to a flat card, and makes it look like a printed card you'd find at a stationery store.

I hope you like it, and decide to play along!  You could win a prize from Simon Says Stamp:

Have a great day!

  4. So sweet, Elena! I was thinking that this would be a super hard challenge for me.... but I made a set of one layer cards to send along to camp with Jonah last week (they're posted on my blog today), so I guess I can do it if pressed. ;)
