crafty break - keeping it real.

Hey.

I miss you.

I don't have anything to show off, but I thought I'd pop in and say hi.

Our family is recovering from an easter-weekend flu, I'm trying hard to shed the 20 pounds I picked up last year (ugh - I hate how that looks in type), and I'm working on design team assignments (which is kinda hard when you're doped up on Niquil...)

It's almost party season (3 babies born within 10 calendar days, remember?) and I haven't started crafting a thing.  the tragedy.  At least Thomas requested a star wars party for his 6th birthday and I don't have anything in my stamping stash to accommodate him.  A quick trip to etsy was a breath of fresh air for this tired mama.  I will delight in serving up "princess leia's buns" and "han-burgers" - printing and cutting and hamburgers and cinnamon buns sounds pretty good to me right now.

The blog may be a bit (a lot) neglected for about another week, but I'll make up for it with 2 and 3 a day posts.  They're all scheduled and waiting. waiting. waiting.

In the meantime, how're you doing?  Anyone else trying to shed a few pounds?  Jillian Michaels and I are trying to make friends.  It's slow-going.  I keep a pouty-faced picture of a 6-week-old Sofia next to the tv so that I feel like someone gets it - how much I hate exercising. I'm hoping it turns around a bit, when I push through all the leg soreness.

Until next time, friends!

  1. Hope you feel better soon. I hear you on the exercise front. I hate it and am trying to eat better and get fit as well. I am actually a little ahead of the game this year on birthday party crafting! Keira's party is half done!
Can't wait to see what you've been creating!

  3. I hope you all are well and happy again soon! I'm 10 lbs. down with 10 lbs. to go, so I totally get that struggle! I've been at a stand still for the last three weeks or so. I am recommitted, though...as I have to do every couple of weeks. I do WW and so I don't feel like I'm on a diet all the time..it's just a matter of living healthy and making good choices for me. I feel so much better when I do it! Good luck, dearie!

    1. You're doing so great! I broke out my ww calculator a week ago. I lost 50 lbs on ww after my second baby, so I know it works. Here's to re-losing some of that weight ;). We can do it!

  4. I totally get where you are coming from. And, I am with you on the 20 pounds. You'd think something that large would have a harder time sneaking up, but then you'd be wrong. I'm with you on that journey. Any tips? I have no will power, especially when I am hungry, so I have given up sugar completely. Well, it's day 7 so far.

    1. oh dear. I can't give up sugar altogether, but I have resolved to keeping it for my "cheat meal" once a week. A blow-out meal and a dessert, to help me not feel deprived. But apart from that, I'm with you on the no sugar - it's too hard to try and be reasonable where sweets are concerned ;). No real tips, but a hug. You've always been an inspiration to me with your spin classes!

  6. Hi Elena! Hugs to you as you're recovering from the flu!
I know how hard it is to lose weight. I lost 20 lbs. last year by giving up sugar and deep-fried foods. Now, I'm at a stand still.... even after the last week of doing Jillian almost every day. I weighed myself this morning and only lost 1/4 of a pound. Sigh....

    1. Leigh, you are a huge inspiration! Confetti and poms poms to celebrate your 20 lb loss. But that's my biggest de-motivator right now. I have been so careful with what I put into my mouth this month, and have been moving more, but I've only lost a few pounds. But, at least it is coming off and not piling on....hugs to both of us!

    2. I need to focus more on how I feel, rather than on what the scale says...

  7. I am WITH you!

Josie's birthday is in about 8 weeks, and I haven't made a THING. Usually the invites are out already!! We've been dealing with my mum and everything, and just to keep it interesting, we just bought a house and now have to get our own ready to list and hopefully sell! And did I mention we leave for Mexico in just over a week? Nothing like stress to keep you moving.

I've been trying to lost weight for over a year - I joined my gym last January, and went HARD CORE for 3 months, seeing some results. Then I started to get lazy and have been at a stand still since last summer or so. The last couple of weeks I started going almost every day again, and started really monitoring what I am eating, and seeing results again.

REMEMBER: It isn't pounds that count, it's inches. You may have only lost a couple of pounds, but since you're working out, you're gaining muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat, remember. So don't look at your scale, look at how your clothes are fitting - THAT'S what counts. Stick with it - the leg soreness is a reminder of your hard work!

  8. Oh, so sorry to hear you're down, Elena! I'm right there with ya, babe and I'm SO ready for it to be gone. I do feel better today, but it's been more than a week. I even missed Easter Sunday! Boo Hoo! Oh, well...I'm not supposed to be crying on YOUR shoulder!!! And about the weight thing...YOU CAN DO IT!!! (But I know it can be frustrating!) Hang in there!!

  9. Feel better soon, Elena!

I always marvel at your creative parties. I bet you still come up with something fabulous, regardless of illness. ;-)

I lost 13 pounds between October and February (13 pounds in about 13 weeks), right over the Christmas season. I fought with myself every day over exercise. Food for me is no real problem because I love healthy, unprocessed food, but EXERCISE? Ugh! I have to work hard at it, LOL! Good luck! :-)

    1. haha - we sound like twinsies. I've lost close to 4 lbs in 4 weeks. It's not bad when you stop to think about it. But I was hoping the fighting with myself over exercise would go away. Don't some people love it? My skinny sister lives to exercise. sigh. I didn't get that gene, I guess!

  10. while the scale isn't telling me I've packed it back on, I can tell. I haven't been to the gym more then once a week in the past 3 weeks... I'm dying. Plus a cupcake a night for 2 weeks doesn't help matters!:) I was thinking of you and your birthday season, can't wait to see what you have cooked up:)

    1. Kimmy, I'm giggling at the cupcakes. nope, not helping. Maybe if your kids could stop getting sick, you'd find the will to go to the gym and stop eating cupcakes ;) Can't wait to see you next month!

  12. I hope you're feeling better now and completely recovered soon. Can't wait to see some pics of your birthday partys, I know they'll be amazing! Ugh... Don't talk to me about weigh loss >.< I bought a bike two months ago to do more exercise and we've had only 4 non-rainy days since then (it keeps pouring right now...) I hope I can do it better in the near future! sigh*

  14. I'm so sorry! I hope you all are better now. I can totally relate to the needing to shed some pounds. I chuckled a little because I'm in the process of "becoming friends" with Jillian as well.
